Chapter 12 - Complications and Emotions

MERETIANA'S POV

I wake up not wanting to go to school. But I still get up and ready. Braiding my hair into two I notice there is a bruise on my wrist. Fuck! I swear I'm going to have to kill Lafaele for touching me.

Walking towards the kitchen I see Saia.

"You don't have to come school today" He says.

"Nah I'm going" I reply. We walk to the bus and I try my hardest to be unnoticed. Unfortunately Lose recognises. She comes and sits next to me.

"Hey? You ok? I heard what happened" she rubs my shoulder.

"Who didn't?" I mumble. We arrive at school and I feel all eyes on me. To show they have no power over my life I walk normally down the hall.

I enter History and still all eyes on me. Today we are learning about WW2. Why do we need to learn about this anyway? Luckily no one has confronted me YET. Walking down the hall I am stopped.

"Mere, can't we talk?" Lafaele begs. I try walking the other way but he gets in my way.

"Mere please?" He pleads.

"Hey bro, can you just leave her alone?" Saia asks. He does as so and backs away.

I thank Saia before making my way to Maths. Fuck I have maths with him. I see Sita & Lose and we all walk together.

" Mere you want to talk about it?" Sita asks.

"Can we just forget about him?" I ask. They nod and we continue to walk.

"So who was that cute Toloa boy?" Lose nudges me. I blush a bit.

"There the Mere we know and love, so tell us" Sita grins.

"His names Wesley and I met him on the plane from America to here" I smile.

"Ooh go get him girl, show Lafaele what he's missing out on" Lose cheers. We continue walking to Maths until we are there. Lafaele walks up to my but Lose & Sita block him.

"Can you's two move?" He asks.

"No, now go take a seat" Sita smiles and says on a bitchy voice. Man I love these girls. We take seats on the other side of class away from him.

School goes by quick. Lafaele keeps bothering me but I got my bodyguards aka Sita & Lose.

"So, you seeing Wesley today" Sita nudges me.

"Yeah, we are hanging out later" I tell them as a massive grin appears on my face.

"You two look cute together" Lose compliments.

After school I walk down the road from school. I wait for about 10 minutes but I walk thinking he probably had something going on, or even worse a girlfriend.

"You weren't going to blow me off were you?" I look behind to see Wesley.

"Oh I thought it was cancelled because of what happened yesterday" I smile.

"We'll c'mon let's go" he says.

"Where?" I reply.

Nothing. I just walk and follow him to where ever we are going. A few hours later we arrive.

I haven't been here before. There's these three big stones, one on top and two supporting it.

"Welcome to the Ha'amonga 'a Maui" He opens his arms wide and points to the stones.

"Maui?" I question. I thought Maui was a maori god, oh how I enjoyed Koro's stories about Maui and his pranks. He was one of my favourite Maui legends besides Hinemoa and Tutanekai.
