Chapter 9 - Waitangi Day

*One Week Later on Waitangi Day*

MERETIANA'S POV

I get up excited as hell. I go to my closet and put on my Panikoti & Piupiu. I wrap my Poi around my waistband and out in to maori patterned head band. Man I miss wearing this around. I walk to the bathroom with black face paint. I paint my Tamoko onto my chin. Man I forgot how skuxx I look in a Tamoko.

It's good my shirt reveals my maori tattoo. I walk to the kitchen humming and old classic.

"Oosh someone's happy" Saia smirks.

 "Shhh I ain't letting you ruin my vibe" I tell him.

 "Nah but you look, uhh traditional in that" he smiles Traditional? Real smooth , brother.

"Happy Waitangi Day egg!" I smile.

I grab my bag with Maori patterns and Today I am going hard out maori. We get on to the bus and I can feel everyone's eyes on me. Lose comes and claims her spot next to me.

"Damn girl, you look good. I've seen this stuff on FB just never seen it in real life" she looks up and down at my clothes. I smile to her. 

"Happy Waitangi Day Lose".

"Kill me now, the big bad wolf is smiling" She laughs hugging me.

We get off the bus and walk inside school. Again all eyes are on me. But am I scared? Nahh. I'm being struck by compliments all morning. From mainly guys and even Ms Kaura complimented me. Haha.

Sita comes running to me.

 "Hey Mere, heard what your wearing and man can you see your curves" She compliments. I playfully punch her arm. 

"Nah but foreals like the entire rugby team is starin" she whispers.

All 3 of us link arms and walk to English. Over the past week we've formed an unbreakable little crew. Walking down the hall like we don't give a care. Sita accidentally knocks Audrey's over.

"Did you just see what you did?" She asks with her hands on her hips. Man she is like a Tongan Drama queen. Girl you ain't white. 

"Yeah she did, and so did everyone else" I grin maniacally then all 3 of us walk off. 

"Your really getting on her bad side" Sita says.

"Serious? I've dealt with worst. If she turns worst I'll have to give her brain damage" I laugh. 

"Hey, I think you got a certain someone drooling" Lose points over my shoulder to Lafaele.

Over the week Fat Head wasn't that bad. He still tries to 'educate' me but nahh. Once you get to know him, he's actually a funny (but dry) guy. We are friends. Just friends. Yeah he's hot but he got a girl and I ain't that kind of girl. Besides I don't have time for boys.

I look over and noticing him starin. Yeah I blush through my brown skin and I smiled but then I straight away looked forward.

 "Ooh Ta'ahine (girl) got a crush" Lose teases. 

"Nahh we just friends" I say while punching her arm.

 "Can you do anything else besides punch?" She wines.

"What's that Lose? You think Taupo's hot" I say out loud. Yeah Lose didn't have a thing for Taupo, I think but at least I did something else. All eyes are on Lose and me and Sita are trying to hold in our laughs while Lose is hiding behind us.
