  "you can't expect me to believe that what you're saying is true, steve!" y/n argues.

  "i would never lie to you about him. especially since he meant so much to both of us." steve pleaded.

  y/n could not allow herself to give in to the idea that the love of her life was actually alive.

  y/n and james barnes were inseparable in the 40's. they started off as best friends which eventually turned into more when she confessed her feelings for bucky to his best friend, steve rogers.

  after bucky "died", she was absolutely crushed. she attempted suicide countless times until steve admitted her into an insane asylum for a year and a half. when those 548 days were up, hydra got to her before steve could. they froze her along with bucky and after 70 years, turned them both into vicious killing machines. together they killed thousands, including tony stark's parents.

  y/n escaped hydra which nearly killed her. months after her escape, she tried to rescue bucky but almost died trying to play the hero. she found steve and explained everything to him.

  after two years of waiting for bucky to show up, she came to terms with the fact that bucky was probably dead. she joined the avengers and since then, no one has asked her about bucky or her past, knowing that it was a sore subject for her to talk about.

  "steven grant rogers...please promise me that you are telling the truth." she says sternly.

  steve nods slowly, "yes y/n/n." steve says, using the nickname bucky gave her when they were kids.

  in realization, she smiles and pulls her best friend into a very tight hug. the two realized they are going to get their best friend back...or what's left of him.

*timeskip*

  steve, sam, and y/n were driving on the highway to the destination of where bucky was last seen. they knew that he was still under hydra's control. so, if they got to this place, they would instantly go into a battle with tons of hydra agents.

  suddenly a loud thump is heard on the top of the car. an arm reaches in, pulling y/n out of the car window by her throat. steve quickly stops the car causing y/n and a man with a metal arm to fly off the roof. the vigilante stands in front of the car while y/n lays in the middle of the road trying to catch her breath.

  a large vehicle comes speeding behind their car, instantly hitting them from behind. the unknown man runs on top of the car again. seeing all of this, y/n quickly gets up, onto the car, and slides back in through the broken window. she crawls onto the middle console while whipping out her pistol in the process. the vehicle starts to flip and steve pulls her and sam close to him and they fall out of the car mid air.

  a grenade is shot at steve and he flies off the overpass leaving sam and y/n crouched down behind cars.

  eventually they are all under the overpass due to the explosions blowing them off the freeway. y/n has no idea where steve and sam are. she runs for her life, through bystanders and flipped cars.

  she finds steve and they fight head to head with the vigilante. steve kicks him away so hard that his mask falls off. he stands up and looks at his old friends, leaving them in shock to this mans identity.

  "bucky?" y/n and steve say in unison.

  "who the hell is bucky?"

  the man looks like bucky, talks like bucky, but he just isn't him. he's not the same at all.

  a bunch of large trucks come out of nowhere with hydra agents filing out of them. y/n stuck her hands up in defeat, "time to die again." she murmured.

  the trio is put into the back of one of the vehicles with two hydra guards in them.

  "he looked right at me, y/n. it was buck." steve says, eyes glued to the floor.

  "i know, steve. i know." she weakly says.

  "you know? what do you mean you know?"

  "steve, while i was with hydra, bucky was there too. i knew he was alive then but i honestly thought he died. i'm just as shocked as you."

  "you knew he was alive and didn't fucking tell me!" steve yells, causing y/n to flinch.

  "calm down, man. we will talk about this later. y/n is gonna bleed out due to the gunshot wound." sam turns to the guards, "can we please see a doctor? you can't let her die."

  one guard stabs the other in the chest and starts to pull off their mask, revealing agent hill leaving the group shocked and relieved.

  they escaped from the holding truck and arrived at an abandoned warehouse. now, they need to figure out a way to get their friend back.
