Among the Shadows (6)
This is a really short "chapter" because, again, school is overpowering my time to write...-_-. Lol anyways I'm planning on uploading a fresh, new, full chapter by Thanksgiving (or around that time)! Enjoy <3

Recap:
I sat on a table at the back of the library. I just finished studying the second chapter of geometry when a quiet voice said, "Hey Victoria."
I quickly turned around and saw those gorgeous blue-green eyes.
"N-Nathan, hey..! You scared me." I stuttered. My heart was pounding and I could swear that it was loud enough for both of us to hear.
He laughed quietly, "Sorry about that." He said. "You look sort of pale; did I really scare you that much?"
"No, no it's not that, I just got really sick all of a sudden last night and...it's a long story." I replied a little too fast. Then I noticed the circles under his eyes as well.
"What about you? You don't look too well either." He looked a little surprised, "It's nothing, just couldn't sleep too well. I'm fine." he replied, "What brings you to the library?" Nathan asked me, observing all the books stacked up on the table.
"I could ask you the same question." I said narrowing my eyes.
"I just...you know, I really don't know why I'm here. I just woke up this morning, took a shower and thought I should go to the library. It's kinda weird though..." he trailed off, looking very confused...but in a totally hot way.
He grinned and for a second I thought I said my thoughts out loud.
"You know what's funny?" he asked me.
"What?"
"You're at literally buried in books." I sighed in relief. And replied,
"What's so funny about that?"
"Nothing, nothing, just that I never thought that you would be a book type of person." He said.
I sighed. "I'm not, but I have to study for my exams, or I'll fail school."
"I could tutor you. I mean, if you want." He suggested.
My heart raced even faster. I managed to say, "Don't you have school to attend yourself? How old did you say you were anyways?"
He chuckled and replied, "I'm 17, but I graduated early so I plan on attending college next fall."
My mouth dropped. So he's a genius, huh?
"Wow. That's, great..!"
He shrugged and grinned, "So I'll meet you tomorrow at 5 pm same place?"
"I'll be waiting." I replied, my face growing warm.

Chapter 6:
"Ms. Thompson? I asked you a question, I expect a prompt answer."
Cara Thompson jumped in her seat and racked her brain for an answer. For the fifth time this day, she found herself daydreaming in her classes.
"Wha-? Oh, uhm, Thomas Jefferson?"
"Cara, this is English class, not history; I would like to have a word with you after class, please." Mr. Wicker scolded.
Cara sighed and dropped her head onto her desk. This day wasn't going too well for her. After Victoria got sick last night at her house, Cara drove her home. Ever since then, Cara called Victoria thirteen times and left her uncountable texts and voice mails. She was worried about her friend and couldn't wait for school to end so she could hunt Victoria down.
After the bell rang, Cara sighed and gathered her books and bag and slowly made her way to Mr. Wicker's desk. "You wanted a 'word with me'?" she said in a monotonous tone.
"Cara, you're one of my top students in English, and I'm pretty sure the rest of your teachers will say the same thing about their classes. But lately I've observed your homework and tests, and well, frankly, I think you are slacking off."
Cara sighed again and replied, "Sorry Mr. Wicker. I don't know how to reply to that..? I try my hardest, I'm even having study groups; in fact I'm even tutoring Victoria!"
"Well, maybe it's time to focus more on your own studies than your friends'," Mr. Wicker suggested, "I'll see you tomorrow in class. Don't forget to hand in your book report." Mr. Wicker closed his briefcase and opened the door for Cara.
Cara stomped her way to her locker. She threw everything in and stuffed her bag with the books she'll need for that night's homework. Cara slammed her locker and gasped.
Victoria's POV:
I feel like I've accomplished everything in my life. I finished studying for my geometry, English, AND biology exams, I've got a date with Nathan, the guy I was destined to be with. Yep, that's what it feels like...destiny has finally found me. But that's just my overly dramatic imagination going crazy. I still gotta study for History and French.
"So, I guess it's a date then? Tomorrow at 5." Nathan confirmed.
That just made my life. Not my day. Made my life.
"Yeah, I guess it is. I'll see you then!"
Before I could open the door to my car, Nathan grabbed my hand and said, "I still don't have your number, you know." He winked.
I laughed and pulled out a red pen and took his hand in mine. It was then that something caught my attention. I pulled his leather jacket sleeve a bit higher at the same time he did that to my jacket.
"What is-" We both said at the same time.
I looked up in wonder. Both of our left wrists were marked with something that I have never seen before. It was similar to a tattoo...but not quite because never in my life have I ever gotten a tattoo. It was almost as if it was under our skin, identical symbols marked with stained blood. I couldn't make out what the shape was, but it seemed like a foreign shape.
"Nathan...? I don't recall ever getting a tattoo...Nathan?" I said kind of creeped out.
I stared at Nathan's face. It held no answers; instead a very curious look came across his eyes.
"Victoria," he started, "what happens if we touch it?"
"Um, I don't know Nathan....you're scaring me." I replied with a shaky voice.
Nathan looked at me with his gorgeous blue-green eyes and kept me frozen in his stare. Then suddenly, a burning sensation flowed through my body and my mind blared with one voice. Nathan.
