Among The Shadows (4)

Hey guys, sorry I haven't posted in a while, I've been quite busy with school and all. Anyways, I would love to have some feedback to see where to improve my story, and I also would love to hear some of the ideas you may have on where to take my story, because right now, I'm just writing whatever pops into my mind! Victoria's POV:

Wow that was weird. First, when I look into his eyes, which by the way are gorgeously hypnotizing, I feel like I can finally breathe. I somehow totally trusted him. Then when he said my name, it was like my name was meant for him to say only. And when I accidentally brushed past him with my arm, there was electricity between us for the briefest of seconds. The place where my arm touched his, burned, and was gone within a second.

I had no idea who he was, except for his name. Nathan. Just saying his name made my heart pound. His aqua blue eyes...his black tousled hair, that I so wanted to run my hands through. Woah there Victoria! You gotta get a grip on yourself! I mentally yelled at myself.

I found myself walking towards a smirking Cara leaning against my black Audi A4. I avoided her as I got into the driver's seat and started the car. I turned on the radio, and Forever the Sickest Kids was on.

"Mission accomplished." Cara said, clearly satisfied. "And I didn't even have to do anything!" I didn't know what to say to that, so I was just quiet, and focused on driving and listening to my favorite band.

"Come on! Tell me what happened! What do you think of him?" She asked excitedly. I sighed, "Nothing happened, Cara, jeez we just met! What do you think happened?" I said.

"Well, DID HE GIVE YOU HIS NUMBER? No...the real question is, did YOU give him YOUR number?" she questioned.

"Noo.........he just said he hoped to see me around sometime, and then we said our goodbyes." I said slowly.

"Gahhh!!" Cara was really annoyed right now. "How is he supposed to 'see you around' if he doesn't have your number??"

"Oh, I don't know Cara, maybe he has vampire senses or something," I said sarcastically. "..IT'S THE TINIEST TOWN EVER. Everyone knows each other here, all he has to do is ask a random person where I live, and presto, he's at my doorstep."

"Sounds fair enough. I just don't want my best friend to be single and lonely all her life." She said.

After finishing a whole box of pizza and unimaginable amounts of ice cream, Cara and I were glued to the couch in front of the T.V. We weren't really watching it; we were too busy gossiping on the latest stuff going on at school that I never really cared to catch up with.

As we continued to talk, my head started throbbing and my throat went dry.

"Hey, can you pass me a soda? My throat's kinda itchy all of a sudden."

Cara handed me one, and I almost gagged from an itchy and burning sensation all the way from my shoulders to my toes. I flinched and Cara noticed.

"Hey are you okay?" she asked concerned.

"Yeah, I'm fine. I think I just ate a bit too much to handle." I replied, hoping what I said was true, and not an allergic reaction.

We were just getting to the subject on how Hannah and Ricky were back together again when suddenly all the lights shut off.

We both screamed and I fell off the couch.

I heard Cara snicker, but soon heard her trip over something as well.

"Dammit!" I yelled as I struggled to get up. I quickly turned on my phone to provide little light. "Cara! Where'd you go!?"

"I'm in the kitchen! Hold up, I'm getting some flashlights and candles." Her voice sounded from the direction of the kitchen. I saw some lights from the candles as I felt my way to the kitchen.

"What do you think happened?" I asked Cara.

"I have no idea, but I'm really spooked right now." She replied.

"Maybe a pigeon got electrocuted by one of the wires?" I suggested, obviously being sarcastic. Cara rolled her eyes, and continued to light more candles.

"I don't know, but this has never happened before, besides that one time there was that huge thunderstorm." She said.

"Definitely weird." I agreed.

I felt all itchy again and my stomach lurched.

"Uh-oh," was all I could say as I tripped and felt my way to the bathroom before puking into the toilet. What was up with me? It was definitely something I ate. Cara came to the doorway.

"Okay, something is definitely wrong, and don't tell me you're fine."

"Calm down, it must've been the food. I think I just overstuffed my self beyond limit."

"I've heard that one already." Cara said. "Come on, I'll drive you home."

"How are you going to get back?" I asked.

"I'll just call Erica, she lives like 2 blocks away from you anyways." She said "But seriously, I think your mom can take care of you better than I can. I mean I can barely pass biology..." Cara trailed on.

"yeah, yea-" I got cut off as my stomach lurched again and I puked into the toilet once again.

"It's gotta be the stomach flu." Cara said as I rinsed my mouth yet again. After that I snatched my bag and keys from the family room and walked outside. Cara was waiting by the door, and I got in. As she drove me home, me clutching a paper bag (just in case; Cara insisted), I though I saw the gleam of a leather jacket across the street by the lamppost, as the person wearing it turned around as soon as our car passed by.

I looked back, only to see nothing.
