Chapter 3 (Alex POV)

"Where are we?" I say. I look below us and see a lot of white people, which by the way you don't find in Nigeria. "Were currently on our way to Long Island, so that means we are in-" Jamie tries to say but I cut him off. "Which country are we in? Thats what I meant."

"Oh. We are in the United states of America." Jamie mutters. I nod distractedly and look below me to see an army of people. At one point I dozed off, because I woke up to a terrible shrill like sound. I'm so surprised my ears didn't bleed. I look around and see we are no longer in the busy city, but rather in a dark environment with trees. I start to hyperventilate. I shake my head to clear my thoughts and then everything becomes foggy. A nauseous feeling surrounds me and then everything is shaking. I look in front of me and see Jamie with a worried look. He tries to speak to me but all I hear are buzzes. Like a million bees are surrounding me. Then Jamie is no longer there, instead blondie takes his position. This time I hear him clearly.

"Focus on your environment okay? Calm down. Lets start. Name three things you can see."

"Trees, you and Jamie."

"Good. Now two things you can hear."

"You and woodland creatures"

Blondie asks me a few more questions. I don't know how, but Blondie's experiment worked. Maybe he isn't so bad. I look around clearly and try not to freak out. Jamie and Blondie does the same. A sound of an explosion suddenly shakes the ground and then I am pushed to the ground. I stand up groggily to see the chariot is nothing but splinters and wood scraps. I whimper, hoping Blondie and Jamie make it alive. I had no time to grieve my new kinda friends, because I hear a roar behind me for about fifty feet. I yelp and start running. I stagger through the woods, looking back every few seconds. I see a clearing and run towards it, hoping the creature is afraid of light. I reach the clearing and nearly choke on my own spit. People fighting everywhere with swords, arrows some even javelins. But the fighting wasn't what gained my attention, it was the fact that where the people are fighting looks like what was described in the mythological books.

Another roar comes from behind me and I take off. Once I am in reasonable distance, I look behind me to observe the creature and wow. That man is pure muscle, you wouldnt know he is a monster until you spot his razor sharp teeth and cannibalistic eyes. Also the steaming metal ball in his hand was a dead giveaway. He roars again and lock eyes with me and grins. I turn to run once again dodging arrows and javelins. I get injured on my first and second attempt to dodge though. I take a turn at one of their many cabins and reach a large window. I look for anything I can use to break it but find nothing. Then I took the next best thing, yelling and screaming for help.

"Help! Help me! Somebody, anybody please!" I yell as I hit the window with my fist. My fist becomes bloody and there are deep cuts on it, but I don't care. I can't see anything from my side, but I hope they can see me.

"Little demigod," says a deep baritone voice. I look towards it and see the creature. A laistrygonian I think he is, walks up to me and stops at about five feet. His hand is empty so I guess he ditched the ball.

"Where is the god that will save you, hmm," he says spreading his arms, "You are completely helpless little one. No one can save you, and now I will feast."

Just as he is about to make a grab for me, a javelin breaks through the window and strikes his chest. He disintegrates into sand that smells a bit like sulfur. His roar fills the air until all that is heard is my heavy pants and cries of war in the background. I take the javelin and run driving away any monster that comes for me and sometimes killing a few from behind. I keep running but I have no idea where I am running to. Then there is a large boom. I look up to see two suns? I keep running from all the madness, hoping for a place of peace and quiet then I see it.

A beach.

The sea glistening in the light.

A sense of calm washes over me and I sit there, near the ocean, for what seems like hours and drift onto a peaceful sleep.
