Chapter 4

"Am I dreaming or is there an Ashton Irwin dressed and ready for school on time" my mum says jokingly as I grab 2 slices of bread and put them in the toaster.

"Haha your so funny, I'm picking up the guys for school" I reply giving her a glare.

"I like these boys already, make sure when you get to school you stay there" the toast pops and I spread the vegimite on them.

"Yep, bye" I say walking out the door and taking a bite of my toast.

First stop was Michael's house. as soon as I stopped outside of his place he came running out the door. "so much better than the bus, thanks mate"

"No problem" I give him a grin as I wait for him to do up his seatbelt.

Calum's house was next and I had to send him a text letting him know I was there. he came stumbling out the door still putting his shoes on as he climbed into the backseat. "didn't expect you so soon" he said and Michael laughed

"what's so funny?"

"The bus is earlier than this and your still running late" Michael stated an I started laughing as well.

"You guys are mean" Calum pouted only making us laugh more.

When we got to Luke's house he was sitting in the front porch with his eyes glued to his phone. I beeped the horn making him jump up instantly. "You should have seen your face!" Calum laughed hysterically and look hit him on the arm "ouch that hurt" Calum said while rubbing his arm.

When we walked into school together we got s couple of looks "why are people staring at us?" Luke asked turning to me.

"Sorry, it's my fault, see you guys later" I said walking off in the direction of my locker. I turned around and they were all just kind of looking at each other.

Class was boring but it seemed to go quicker than normal. the same guy walked past my desk and nocked my books off my desk but this time I didn't cry. I don't know where my sudden courage came from but I looked him right in the eyes as to tell him to back off. he didn't do or say anything he just walked away.

I actually felt kind of proud of myself. I walked out of class and to my locker "hey Ashton!" I turned around suddenly and Luke and Calum were walking towards me. I'm still not use to this, I thought it was some guy coming to beat me up or something.

"Where's Michael?" I ask. it's weird that he's not with them.

"He got kept in after class again" Luke said rolling his eyes. "seriously what's with everyone staring at us!" He said loud enough that everyone around him looked away "thank you!" He shouted and Calum laughed biting into an apple.

"Sorry about that, it's social suicide to be hanging around me just warning you, you don't have to hang out with me" I say nervously.

"Nonsense! Band mates stick together!" Calum's says a little too loudly putting his arm around me and we start walking to the cafeteria.

We sit down at a table and soon after Michael joins us. "so what were ya in for this time?" Luke asks.

"Apparently it's not okay to go to sleep in the middle of class but the teacher would never have noticed if it weren't for my loud snoring"

Our laughing pulls to a holt when suddenly someone "drops" their lunch all over me.

The guy eyes all widen and Calum stands up pushing the person to the wall. fuck fuck fuck I gotta get out if here. I stand up and quickly walk out of the room and into the bathroom. they probably won't want to be my friends anymore after this. I can't believe what Calum did.

I look in the mirror and see pudding all over me making my hair all sticky. My eyes water up as I try to clean myself up. The door opens and I freeze when Luke walks in. I quickly wipe my eyes and he sits himself up on the bench next to the sink. "you alright mate?"

"Yeah, I'm sorry"

"Sorry for what?" he asks seeming confused.

"I-I don't know"

It's silent for a while beige he speaks "well you should take your blazer off, puddings not a good look for you" he chuckles actually making me smile a bit.

"I can't" I say pointing to my arm nod he gives me a nod.

"Here take mine and I'm not taking no for an answer" he pulls off his blazer.

"Thank you" I say quietly trying to hold back tears.

"Mate, if your holding back tears because I'm here you don't have to, it's alright to cry" and with those words I burst into tears. Luke wrapped is arms around me to comfort me.

When we walk out we were late to class, my hair is all cleaned but a bit wet and frizzy and I'm wearing Luke's blazer. "what do you say we just ditch the rest of class, the teachers already know why your not there"

"How do they know?" I asked shocked because they never notice when things like this happen to me.

"Well Calum had to be pulled off of that guy and ended up in the principles office, he's suspended but after Calum told them what he did to you he is too"

"Fuck! I got Calum suspended?" I feel really bad now.

"Hey, it was his choice to jump the guy" Luke started laughing and I did too for some reason. "just a heads up, the school called your mum about it" I nod knowing that the school had to and it's part of there job but I really wish my mum didn't have to know about it.

We sat on the front steps of school for a while until lunch time when my mum called.

"Yes I'm okay mum"

"Yes mum"

"Yes I know mum" (this is where Luke started laughing)

"Okay mum"

"Can I just go home?"

"Yes, I promise we can talk"

"Thank you, love you too mum"

When I hung up I hit Luke on the shoulder who was now mimicking me with "yes mum" "I love you mum" and I couldn't help but laugh at him.

"I'll pick you guys up when school finishes, I'm going home"

"Well Calum's gone home on suspension and Michael's finishing off his 2 week detention he got last week so it's just me"

"Okay then" I start walking away

"Great bunch aren't we?!" He called out laughing. They really were.

I walked in the front door of my house "are you okay sweetie?" My mum said wrapping her arms around me tightly so I couldn't breath.

"Yes, yes, I'm fine. it was only pudding" I chuckled a bit "I need to take a shower, I'm all sticky" I tried to make it out that I was okay but I knew she could see my red eyes.

"Okay then" she smiled "who's blazer are you wearing?" She asked me noticing the pudding stained one in my hand.

"Luke's, I will give it back to him when I pick him up from school"

"Let me clean that one" she said grabbing mine from my hands and I walked upstairs to take a shower.
