𝓔ddie snuck through his window luckily without getting caught by his mother. He looked out and waved to Ben, watching as he sped off before slowly shutting his window and locking it. He turned the small lamp on so he could see properly. It was currently eleven at night and something in his room didn't feel right. Something was very off. Attempting to ignore it, he pulled his jacket off and set it on the chair. As he was about to get undressed, there was a voice behind him. "You took it off." Eddie nearly jumped out of his skin before he turned around and met with Richie. "What?" He asked, not even knowing what he was talking about. "The ring, you took it off." He repeated with more tone. Eddie's eyes widened as he remembered when Beverly took his ring off. He glanced at the ring in Richie's hands before looking back at him.
"It was an accident, I was going to this thing and my friend Beverly-" He got interrupted when he heard footsteps in the hall. "Oh, no..." He mumbled, brows furrowed. His mom was awake. He looked at Richie quickly. "Listen, you have to go." He pleaded, aware that Richie was a bit upset right now. "Please, go." He continued on.
Once he saw that Richie clearly wasn't going anywhere, he sighed worriedly and got in bed, covering himself with his blanket so his mom wouldn't see that he was dressed. The bedroom door opened and Sonia was peering the room. Richie stared at the older woman before disappearing in a blink of an eye. Sonia hummed a bit. She went over to Eddie's desk and shut the lamp off. Her eyes stared at her son for an uncomfortable amount of time before she looked away and left the room, shutting the door.
THE NEXT MORNING
Eddie woke up upset. He fell asleep while he had pretended to be asleep, knowing he didn't get to finish his conversation with Richie. He frowned as he stared at his chair. After a bit, he got out from under the covers, seeing that he had pajamas on. Though he fell asleep with his concert clothes on so the only logical explanation for all of this was...oh.
Eddie flushed and rubbed his arm, getting out of his bed. He looked around and didn't see his ring at all. Richie took it with him which made Eddie feel lost which was unfortunate. It's like all he was looking forward to was midnight with Richie. He had so much questions and so very little time. He still wasn't talking to his mom.
Ever since the previous night, he's been quiet and hasn't spoke to her about anything. Eddie felt alone. He was in a fight with his mom and Richie so he decided to go out. He went to the bathroom and pulled his pjs off before getting in the warm shower. Eddie grabbed his phone from the counter outside of the shower since his hands weren't wet yet and began texting his only friends that would answer.
Eddie: are you free right now?
Stan: yeah, why?
Eddie: i'm bored and there's nothing to do
Stan: alright...quarry?
Eddie: at eight. meet you there
He couldn't stop thinking about how upset Richie was last night. All because of a stupid ring. Eddie glanced at the book on his desk and picked it up, opening it. He decided to pick up from where he left off, reading over the words on the pages carefully, but nothing really told him how to talk to a spirit if they offended them and now won't talk to them at all.
Eddie sighed and put the book down, giving up. He went through his phone and pressed google, just looking up a few things instead. He found this page called ghostly something which he thought was a scam, but he didn't feel like looking any further.
If you offend or do something to a spirit,
cut contact off with them immediately for
they will harm you or might do worse.Eddie stared down at the sentence, feeling a chill run down his spine. Worse? Twas bullshit. Eddie didn't want to stop talking to Richie, now that he had began talking to him, he was intrigued. He just wanted to know more and talk to him. If he was living in his house, he wanted to know what happened.
eddie put on a red crewneck and a pair of blue jeans and converse. he grabbed his phone and climbed out his window, not wanting to bump into his mom this morning. he didn't want to argue today. at least not right now. he was surprisingly in a good mood and he wanted that to last.
he walked down by himself to the quarry, humming to himself. as he was passing neibolt street, he had stopped and stared at the house. he never knew what happened to the house himself, but he always made up stories about it in his head to try to figure it out...though he never actually knew. it might've been a tragedy, but eddie didn't want that at all.
once he got to the quarry, he saw stanley sitting on the big rocks by the cliff. "hey." eddie greeted, now making his way over with a small smile. stanley had looked up, seeing him which made him smile.
"hi." he looked back at the cliff. eddie sat down next to him and rested his elbow on his knee with his chin in his hand. "we never talked about last night." he began, wanting to hear more about what stanley did and confessed his feelings. "i don't want to talk about it." stanley muttered, shaking his head as he continued to stare out toward the cliff.
he glanced at eddie for a moment before looking down to his hands with a small sigh. he was upset.
mostly with himself for telling people about it. he felt like no one else needed to know and that they would treat him differently because of it. like it was his own fault and that he chose to be this way.
"i feel like i don't really need to label it. i feel like if i put a label on it, that's all people are gonna think about and i don't want that. i wanna be stanley. just stanley." he explained, glaring at the rocks. eddie nodded slightly, understanding him a bit. "okay, just stanley." he began, standing up. he held his hand out to him for him to take. "wanna go for a swim?" he asked with a cheesy smile, making stanley look up. he smiled and took eddies hand.
they went over to the cliff and got undressed, just setting their clothes on the rocks and jumping. the feeling eddie got was unreal. the freeness of it all.
it's not the normal roller coaster drop feeling, it was a comfortable sensation of floating and support. only with a slight pressure of air against your body. the worry all went away, the air in his lungs was much lighter than it normally was.
it all washed away when he hit the surface and the body of water engulfed him completely. it felt as if he was drowning, but it didn't necessarily hurt his chest. it cleared his mind of all thinking and stress.
however, it was gone when he went to the surface. he took a deep breath and began laughing when he saw stanley in the water. they both laughed and swam for a few hours. it was time to themselves, stress free. they were the best of friends and they enjoyed having to get away from things they always needed to worry about so much.
such things like spirits and disapproving parents.
