eddie woke up in not his bed, but stanleys as he remembered the previous night which gave him a mind blowing headache. he slowly sat up, pausing when he noticed a familiar head of dark curls on the edge of the bed. sometimes he wondered why he kept richie around, he knew and even ben knew he had to let him go some day. but today wasn't it.richie had his eyes closed and his arms wrapped over his own chest which didn't rise nor fall. it was still so it was obvious he wasn't a human being. eddie stared at him for a while, noticing how still he appeared to be. he lifted a hand up and touched the side of his jaw carefully, glancing up at his eyes that were still closed. "boo!" eddie jumped away, his large brown eyes as big as the full moon.
richie laughed aloud at his reaction, sitting up so he could see him a bit properly. "got ya'." he chuckled. eddie only glared at him. "you were sleeping!" he stated as he shook his head. "impossible, i don't sleep." richie states, looking around stanleys room weirdly before looking back at the boy ahead of him. "where's bird boy?" he asked, noticing a clock that makes chirping noises whenever the time changes which he thought was insanely annoying.
eddie sighed and relaxed back into the pillows. "school. he told me to stay here cause i can't leave you here alone." he mumbled, rubbing his eyes.
he looked back at richie for a moment, messing with his own hands. "remember when you said i could ask you any question?" eddie reminded. richie gave him a look. "only one question." he corrected. eddie rolled his eyes, nodding anyway. "yeah." he said as he sat up straighter, his back resting on the board comfortably. "i remember." richie finished. eddie nodded slowly, looking back down. "have you ever been in love?" the raven haired boy looked at him as if he was insane. "no." he answered, not even having to think about it.
"not even once? have you ever just liked someone?" eddie asked on, making richie hold a hand up. "hey, only one question." he reminded him of the rule he had. however he answered the other question too. "but no." he answered, looking down at the clean sheets. eddie only nodded, looking at him. "i think i have...liked someone, i mean. well, like someone." he told. richie looked at him curiously. "who?" he asked as if it wasn't a personal and secretive thing.
eddie then grinned. "i'm not telling you! that's just a question i can't answer." he chuckled. richie only nodded, looking away. "alright." he simply said. he looked over to the window before looking back at eddie. "i gotta go." he said, standing up. the brown haired boy seemed confused. "but you're-" before he knew it, richie simply disappeared on him.
eddie got up from the bed, lifting his arms up as he huffed. "what the hell, richie?" he called out as he looked around the empty room. he sat back down and folded his arms, thinking to himself quietly.
sometimes he wished he could do that in the past. just disappear. he sighed and stood up, putting his shoes on as he decided on going out right now. he didn't want to be locked up in a house. he grabbed his phone and went downstairs, stanleys parents at work as he took the spare key and went outside.
he decided to go get ice cream solely for wallowing. he had nothing to wallow, but he felt like getting ice cream to fill himself up from the regret of asking the dumbest question. have you ever been in love? who asks that? eddie made his way down the street, hearing the familiar melody of the ice cream truck down the road. he turned a corner and approached it, pulling the two dollar bills out of his pocket.
eddie got what he always asked for, a strawberry and vanilla swirl ice cream cone. "thank you." he smiled toward the tan skinned woman, handing her the money before beginning to walk off by himself.
after a while of eating his ice cream and walking to empty places, he heard quiet footsteps behind him. being paranoid as he was with his horrid mother looking for him, he turned around quickly only to be met with patrick hockstetter. henry bowers friend. a junior. also a jackass. "what do you want?" his voice trembled, knowing he lost his cool. "and why are you always following me?" he asked, finally confronting him about his little stalker-ish act.
"so what's their name?" patrick asked suddenly. the look in his eyes seemed almost like he knew things he did. secret things. "what are you talking about?" he asked, folding his arms. patrick then held up the one thing eddie kept closest to him. the ring. not just any ring, richies ring. eddies eyes went wide.
"where'd you get that?" his voice shook. it always seemed to shake at the wrong time. "i found it. you know, i've seen one just like this recently." he said, but he didn't exactly sound like he was tormenting him. eddie looked at his hands, seeing the same one on his own finger, only it was thicker. he then looked up at patricks eyes, wondering if he was going through the same thing he was. he had to be, if he wasn't then where'd he get the ring?
but he didn't know if he was even telling the truth. "they stay at your house, right? wanna meet mine?" something about it was real sketchy, but he just wanted to see and find out for himself. "tomorrow of course." patrick finished. eddie only nodded. "okay." he planned, making patrick grin carefully.
patrick began walking home, making eddie confused. "wait, my ring-" patrick turned around to face him. "i'll give it to you tomorrow." he said, continuing to walk. eddie sighed with a frown while beginning to walk back to stanleys place.
calpurnia broke up and i'm upset abt it :(
