it was late at night when eddie received some very contentious text messages. he was asleep on the floor in stanleys room like he had been for the past few days. it was dark as he sat up and felt for the ring on his empty finger, remembering patrick and what he said yesterday evening. he was upset that he didn't have it on right now. he got so used to it.

unknown: meet me at the house

he was assuming it was from patrick, it followed by an address a few blocks from stanleys. eddie was aware of how sketchy this was, but he needed to know if patrick was telling the truth or not about the whole spirit thing. if he was, he wouldn't be alone in all of this, so he decided to go as of tonight.

he carefully got up out of the blankets and went to grab his shoes, pausing when he saw stanley shift under his covers on the bed. eddie felt his face burn, not wanting to get caught before he noticed that his roommate hadn't woken up. he let out a sigh of relief and carefully slipped his shoes on, grabbing his phone and walking to the bedroom door. after he successfully left the house, he began making his way to the address shown in his messages.

the sky was unusually dark, not even the stars were lighting up the glittery sky like it normally did on a night like this. he pulled his corduroy coat closer to himself, his limbs shaking slightly as his big brown eyes were scanning around his surroundings. it was windy and it didn't help his case of already freezing his ass off. eddies walking slowed down when he saw the address on the door right in front of him.

he glanced down at his phone, seeing the exact same address on the building. he took a deep breath as he began to approach the house. once he got to the door, he felt his entire body shudder. it wasn't a normal thing for him to go out during hours like this. he let out a worried, scared sound before hitting his first to the wooden door. he wrapped his arms around himself, looking at the green reef hung in front of him. the door creaked open, making eddies eyes wide with curiosity. "hello?" he softly asked. he uneasily nudged the door open slowly, peering inside. once he was entirely in the doorway, he looked behind his back then went to close the door.

it was immensely cold around him. it didn't feel like a house someone lived in. it felt more like a garage if anything. "patrick?" he questioned. the aura smelt of old laundry and it was completely pitch black. but then one dim light came on and eddie swore he felt his heart stop beating.

a lanky figure went toward the light, revealing the patrick hockstetter he knew. eddie let out a sigh of relief. "hey..." he greeted. patrick crossed his arms over his chest. "hey." he responded dully. eddie then glanced around his surroundings with a sheepish chuckle. "your house...it's kinda empty." he said with a small frown, looking back at the older kid. "yeah, i don't live with anyone, y'know." patrick said with a shrug. "want some water?" he offered with a hum. eddie raised his brows and nodded. "yeah, sure." he kindly smiled.

patrick silently went to go get water, leaving eddie alone once again. it was so silent that eddie could hear faint ringing in his ears — nothing but the quiet footsteps around the house. eddie glanced down to his phone before clicking it off, only to check what time it was and it was very late. there was a sudden vibration in eddies hand, making him look back down at his phone. stanley was calling him. eddie furrowed his brows and just let it ring, looking at patrick who entered with the glass of water. eddie then stuffed his phone in his pocket.

just as he was about to take the glass, it dropped from the boys hand and shattered all over the floor. eddies eyes widened, nearly stepping back. the look in patricks eyes were cunningly terrifying. he had a slight grin on his lips before getting down to his knees. "sorry about that." he said as he shook his head. eddie just nodded. "that's-that's okay." he said as he blinked to try to process what happened. patrick began to pick up the shards of glass, making eddie look down at him. he went down as well and began to help, careful because he always got grossed out around blood so he didn't want to accidentally hurt himself or anything.

but once he got on the ground, he felt a hard wack hit the back of his head. everything went blurry. he dazily looked around to try and see what happened, hearing rushed murmurs around him before there was another wack. everything went dark before he could think about what had even happened.
