.....THREE MONTHS LATER.....
Jesse went to pick up the girls for his weekend visitation. He and Jona had separated. Maybe it was due to the stress of being young and having three little girls. Most likely it was due to the fact that Jesse had takin a liking to the drink and Jona took a liking to any and all men that showed her attention. Either way the relationship had reached a point of no return so they decided to do what was best and part ways.
Jesse took his girls back to his mother's house with him like he did every other weekend. He was in the floor playing with Jess and Jena when Jayla started screaming. It wasn't an I'm not happy cry it was an I'm in pain scream. Jesse went and picked her up from her crib. "What's wrong with daddy's baby?" He asked her in a soothing voice. He could tell she needed a diper change because she was squishy. " Let daddy get u changed and I'll rub your belly." He said to her. Figuring she was having gas pains. When he took her diper off his heart sank. She had diper rash so bad it had turned into sores. He could feel himself getting to angry. "How the hell do u let her get sores like that?"He yelled at Jona.
"I don't know how it got that bad. I changed her Everytime she uses it." She replied.
"Well when I pick her up again it had best be better." He told her as he turned to leave.
It had been two weeks since Jesse had seen his girls. It was Friday and his weekend to have them so he made the drive with his mother to go pick them up. He was hopeing that little Jaylas sores were gone.He really couldn't understand why Jona had gotten lazy with Jayla. She had done good with Jess and Jena. After he left she had turned all her attention to the men around her and he wasn't gonna have his kids being neglected. He didn't care if she was there mother of not. She would act like a mom or he would take his girls himself.
They pulled in the drive and Jona met him on the porch with Jess and Jena.
"And where is Jayla?" He asked concerned.
"She's not going I'm keeping her here with me." She said blocking him from the house.
"It's my weekend with them. Now go get her."
Just then Jona's dad, Hinton, steps on the porch. He stands there with his arms crossed over his chest. He was a big man alot taller than Jesse. Jesse was only about 5'5 partly because with familiar spastic paraplegia your legs won't completely streighten out which leaves you standing in a squating position.
"She said your not taking Jayla." Hinton said and gave Jesse a push.
Before he could stop his self Jesse had slapped Hinton right in the face causing him to stumble backwards.
"Call the law he's going to jail." Hinton said so Jesse got in the car and left.
When they got back home it wasn't long before there was a knock at the door. Eden opened the door to find MPD standing there.
"Are you Mrs. Harding?" The officer asked.
"Yes" she answered confused as to what they wanted with her. She hadn't even said anything at Jona's house.
"We have a warrant for your arrest on kidnapping charges." The officer told her turning her back to him.
" Wait a min." Jesse said after hearing what he said. " I'm the one that took Jess. She's my daughter and Jona and I are not even divorced."
Jesse told the officer the whole story and after he was done explaining the officer told him they would be sending CPS out to check on the girls. When CPS went out to Jona's house to check the welfare of the kids it was decided that the kids were not in a suitable home.
Jess and Jena were placed in one foster home and Jayla in another.
Court date after court date yet nothing being accomplished. Jesse was fighting to get custody of the girls.
"Mr. Bleckman, how do you think you will be able to care for three girls yourself? One being four months old, and mentally retarded. One thirteen months with familiar spastic paraplegia and one twenty- four months old with no impairment. I don't think you, having FSP and are capable." The judge said coldly looking down at Jesse.
"I can and I will." Was Jesse's reply
"No, I don't think so."the judge said
" U can't use my legs agenst me." Jesse shouted at the judge.
"One more word from u Mr. Bleckman and I'll hold u in contempt." The judge said smiling.
"Bring your ass outside and I'll contempt you." Jesse told him with his lawyer pulling him out of the court room.
" Since she has gotten a home of her own and it has proven to be fit for the girls, I grant custody back to the mother. Of course CPS will still be checking in on the welfare of the children until the case has been closed." He slammed the gavel down and court was dismissed.
