Running errands is never fun, especially when you have to do adult things. It's exhausting and irritating.
Sometimes I wish I was still twenty something. Life seemed like it was a little easier, and if I could go back then I'd understand so much more shit than I actually did then.
I wouldn't call myself blessed or lucky, although a lot of people would, but my grandpa's money had helped me throughout the years and even though I had several jobs in the past, this money really helped me.
My last job was a few years ago. I was waitress at a restaurant but didn't really like it as much as I thought I would.
As I was standing at the ATM, getting money out, I felt someone behind me. Trying to hide my information from the screen, I quickly grabbed my money then turned around a little too fast and ran into that person.
"Oops, sorry." The guy laughs. "I was standing a little too close."
Looking at him, I smiled. "No, it's ok. I was just panicking cause I felt you behind me but thought you were someone that was going to rob me."
He chuckles then stuffs his hands in his pockets. "Definitely not that kind of person. My mama didn't raise me that way."
I noticed that he had a strong southern accent. He wasn't much taller than I was and he looks like he was at least twenty something. He wasn't that bad looking to be honest.
"Well, that's a relief." I smiled.
He pulls his hand out and holds it out. "The name is Danny."
Shaking his hand, I smile. "Alexis."
"Nice to meet you, Alexis." He smiles. "Can I take you out for lunch?" He stops for moment. "I swear I didn't intend for that to come out creepy."
Chuckling, I watched him for a moment. "Um, well.."
"I understand if you don't want to. I just thought, since you seem like a pretty cool person, it wouldn't hurt to go grab something to eat and talk." He shrugs. "If you want."
Watching him, I could tell that he was an ok dude. Not thinking nothing of it, I agreed.
-
"Then my sister took the mop and started mopping the ceiling, yelling at our mom and telling her that she's finally cleaning the house like she wanted us to." He laughs and I couldn't help but laugh as the stories he was telling me.
Danny was a pretty cool person. His personality was amazing and his sense of humor was awesome. I thought he'd be a douche, but he was ok.
"So, Alexis," He smiles as he stirs his drink with the straw. "what's your most embarrassing secret?"
Shaking my head, I chuckled. "Woah, don't you think that's too much right now?"
He shrugs. "Thought that's a great conversation to have. I always like learning about people."
Leaning back, I watch him for a moment. "So, you like learning about strangers?"
"Are we strangers?" He asks. "I thought we were friends now." He smiles.
Shrugging. I smiled. "More or less. I mean, we just met."
He nods. "That is true. But some friendships happen so quickly, it's amazing."
"I guess you're right."
He smiles. "Of course I am."
I roll my eyes. "You're also very cocky."
"You picked that up?" He tilts his head.
Nodding, I smiled. "Yep." I took a sip of my drink.
He watched me for a moment. "Tell me something, Alexis," I nod as I waited for him to continue. "If you don't mind me asking, how old are you?"
I smiled. "How old are you?"
"How old do I look?" He smiles.
Shrugging, I couldn't really judge his age. It was a mix of a lot of different ages. "Um, twenty five?"
He chuckles. "You're not that bad at guessing."
"Am I right?"
"I'm twenty nine."
I nodded. "Not bad. You look younger."
He took a sip of his drink then smiles. "Thanks. So, how old are you?"
Messing with him a little, I smiled. "How old do I look?"
He lets a breath out. "Oh wow. That's a tough one. You look young, but you have this kind of vibe going for you that screams a little older than what I'm predicting." He rubs his chin. "Thirty?"
Smiling, I shook my head and opened my mouth to speak, but he stops me. "I want to keep guessing. Don't tell me." He stares at me for a moment. "Am I hot or cold?"
"A little bit of both."
He rubs his chin, staring hard at me. "Hmm.. thirty six?" I shook my head and he kept guessing for a few moments until I had to finally tell him. "No way." He chuckles. "You don't look it, I'll give you that."
I smiled. "Thanks."
We continued talking for a few minutes until I felt my phone starts ringing. I saw Jordan call it then smiled as I answered.
"Yes?"
"Where are you? I thought you said you had a few things to do."
I chuckled. "I never said a few things. Just some business things to take care of."
Which now thinking about it, I never got them done when I ran into Danny.
"Hurry back, please. I miss you." She whispers the last part, which made my heart skip a beat.
"I miss you more. I'll be there soon."
After I hung up, I caught Danny watching me. "Let me guess, your boyfriend?"
I could of laughed right there, but decided against it. "No."
"Then who?"
I shrugged as I stared at him. "A friend."
He made a noise with his mouth. "Psh. Yeah, right. But hey, I'm not trying to interfere with your life, so I'll just leave it as that."
After he paid, we walked out and towards my car. As soon as we stopped next to it, I looked over at it and smiled. "It was nice meeting you, Danny. You're a pretty cool guy. Thanks for taking me out to lunch."
"My pleasure." He bowed and I started laughing. "Maybe we can do it again?"
"Maybe." I shrugged. "I'll fit it in my schedule."
He nods as I unlocked my car then opened the door. "Alright well, farewell Miss Alexis." He smiled then waved as he walks away.
After that, I got into my car and left not a minute later. More than ready to get back home to Jordan.
