Tell Me That You Love Me by James Smith^
"Are you asleep?" I whisper to Jordan as her arms were around me and her head was against my chest.
The only light in the room was from the tv, but the volume was down low to where we couldn't hear it.
We were watching movies when we both fell asleep, and I just suddenly woke up with no warning. I could feel Jordan's body halfway on mine and it didn't bother me at all.
I stroked her back then felt her move a little. "Alexis?" She whispers then leans her head up to look at me. I saw her eyes half open and I couldn't help but smile. "Are you ok?"
Smiling, I pulled some hair from her face. "I'm fine."
She turns her head towards the clock on the table then she looks back at me. "It's four in the morning." She yawned. "What are you doing awake?"
By this time, she has moved upwards to where she was laying next to me with her face inches from mine. Her eyes were still shut as she was laying there, trying to fall back to sleep.
I caressed her cheek as I stared at her. She barely opened her eyes then smiles as she places her hand on top of mine.
"I love you, Alexis."
Staring at her, my heart was bound to explode any minute. So many emotions that I still have for this woman, and it all came back in such a short time.
The things we've been through means everything to me, while it means shit to other people who knew our struggles.
This was the Jordan that was hiding all along and everyone else was too blind to see.
"I love you too, Jordan." I lean over to kiss her forehead.
After a few minutes of staring at her, I fell off in a deep sleep.
-
As I was sitting at the table, enjoying my coffee, I heard the front door shut followed by footsteps. I kept watching the kitchen entrance until I saw Casey walking in.
"Good morning, Alexis."
I nod then took a sip of my coffee. My eyes landed on her as she was standing there, staring at me. "What?" I ask once I sat my coffee down on the table.
She sighs then walks over before pulling a chair out and sitting down across from me. "Alexis, I'm sorry if I'm such a bitch sometimes. But you have got to understand that-"
"I do." I say, without letting her finish. "Casey, if you haven't noticed, you're the only one complaining about Jordan and I." I watch her for a moment. "There's nothing wrong with us now."
Staring down at the table, she sighs. "Alexis, I honestly give you so much credit for what you put yourself through in the past. Many people wouldn't have done what you did and that says a lot." She looks up at me. "One day, we need to go and talk."
"About what?"
She shrugs. "Anything and everything. We haven't talked in a while.. just us. I think we need to have a coffee date one day." She slightly smiles.
If that didn't bring back some memories, then I don't know what. Having Casey tell me that we needed to go and talk made me relive the past for a moment.
Nodding, I held onto my coffee. "Sounds great." I smile.
We sat there for a few minutes until Jordan walks in the kitchen. Once she saw us, she stops and stares for a moment. "What's going on?"
"Just talking." Casey says before standing up and walking to her.
I sat there as they talked for a moment, not really listening to whatever they were saying. I kept my main focus on Jordan and couldn't help but smile.
After Casey said her goodbyes, she left. Jordan walks over to the table and sits down across from me. She has her coffee in her hands and brings it up to her lips before taking a sip.
I watch as her eyes would look somewhere then at me. She brought the coffee down and smiled. "When did you finally go to sleep?"
Shrugging, I watched her. "A few minutes after you fell back to sleep."
"I should have stayed up with you."
Smiling, I shook my head. "No, it's fine. You need sleep."
"Yeah, but-"
I chuckled. "Jordan, it's ok." I reached my hand across the table and watched as she looks down at it.
She pulls her hand from under the table then takes my hand into hers. She squeezes it and smiles at me before taking a sip of her coffee.
After a few moments of sitting in silence, I remembered that we had our therapist appointment. I groaned then leaned my head against the table.
"What's wrong?" Jordan asks.
I lean my head up to see her watching me. "I don't want to go to our therapist." I saw her smile. "Couldn't we just skip it?"
She chuckles. "As much as I would like that, because I don't like it either, we still have to go." She shrugs.
"How much longer?"
Tilting her head, she stares at me. "How much longer what?"
I sighed. "Until we don't have to go anymore? Why can't everyone see that we're fine? We don't need this anymore."
"Casey-"
"Yeah, I know. Casey is the only one who can't see that we're totally fine now." I roll my eyes.
Jordan watches me for a moment. "We've been over this, Alexis."
I nodded. "I know." I look up at her. "Sorry."
She slightly smiles. "It shouldn't be so bad. Maybe we'll get out early."
"Yeah, right." I said.
Jordan stands up then walks around the table. I watch as she stands next to me before leaning down and kissing my forehead.
I watch as she grabs her coffee then walks out, leaving me there to think about all this stupid shit.
