Chapter 10

Kate's POV 

Excitement bubbles in my stomach as the school day comes to a close 

I pack up and head out the door to find Uriah already waiting with a goofy grin on his face 

"You ready?" He asks 

"Sure" I smile 

"I was thinking we could sit on the steps that look onto the oval" Uriah suggested 

"Sounds good" 

We walk to the steps and sit in the sun 

"This is nice" I say

"yeah, I guess" He said 

This is awkward  I think to myself 

"Soo..." 

"Do you have your script?" Uriah asks 

"Yeah, should we get started?" I suggest 

"Sure girlfriend" He teases and I laugh

"You wish!" I joke 

I feel uncomfortable all of a sudden and when I look out onto the oval I see the football team training and one of the guys is staring right up at us 

Tobias 

I focus back on Uriah ignoring his stare 

"So babe" I say jokingly which sends him laughing again  "where were you on the night of the 22nd of October" 

" I was at a party with my girlfriend" He said " My dog had died earlier that day and I was ver upset"

After I tested him a few times he tested me and I was not nearly as rehearsed but I still had plenty of time 

The conversation between us just flowed and was full of laughter, He was really fun to be around and I was sad when it was over 

"Same time tomorrow?" Uriah asked

"Sorry, I have plans tomorrow" I say 

"really, who with?" Uriah asked 

"My brother" I said "And then the party is on Friday"

why are you so concerned?  I thought 

"Are you going" Uriah asked 

"Yeah, I think" I answered " I mean, I was really looking forward to it but I'll see how much homework  I have"

"You should come" Uriah suggested "It will be fun"

" I'll think about it" I said 

"Well hopefully see you there and if not I'll see you around" Uriah said and wandered off 

"bye" I called after him and I couldn't wipe the grin off my face 

I met up with Tobias and braced myself to be interrogated

"Hey" I greeted him 

"Hey, what were you doing about Uriah?" he asked me 

"Why did you leave at break" I asked him 

Tobias POV 

Damn 

She knows what she's doing 

If I don't tell her she wont tell me  

And there is no way I'm telling her how  worked up I got over Tris - not until I work out why

But I want to know why she was hanging with Uriah, she has no reason to be 

I have to get to the bottom of this - she's my little sister 

I care about her and I want her to be safe and treated right, Zeke was a player and I haven't known Uriah long enough to tell if he is like his brother or not and until I know he is trustworthy he is going no wear near my sister again   

 I've already told her no dating till college
