Kate's POV

When I arrive home I head straight to my room and start studding but I'm am interrupted by the doorbell ringing

I walk down the hallway in the direction of the front door but Tobias beats me to it

"what do you want?" He asks

"I need to speak to Kate" The voice at the door says, I immediately recognise it as Uriah's

Tobias cast a glance back at me and I shake my head in response to the unasked question

"She doesn't want to talk to you" He says and shuts the door in his face

"Harsh much" I mutter

"I can say the same thing to you" He retorts and I head back to my room confused

Why is he here?

What does he want with me?

My thoughts are interrupted by a knock on my door

"He is still oustide" Tobias says

I pretend I'm focusing on my work because he is the last person I want to talk about Uriah with

"It's been 5 minutes sis" He says "If he hasn't left already he isn't going to"

"And how to you know that?" I ask

"How about because I am a male" He replies

"Why are you telling me this?" I ask facing him "I mean I know your not the most supportive of our friendship"

"I may be protective but I like it when you are happy" He tells me "And he makes you happy, you can't deny it"

"T, I think I might like him, I mean really like him" I confess

"Go and talk to him" He says and follows me down the hall

I walk out the front and sure enough there he is sitting on the side walk

"I knew you'd buckle" He says as he hears my footsteps

"What do you want" I say as I sit down beside him

"To apologize for telling your brother about what happened" He says "It wasn't my place and I'm sorry"

"You came all this way to apologize?" I ask

"I care about you Kate, I couldn't just do nothing and I'm sorry if that makes me a bad person..."

"It doesn't" I tell him

"I also really wanted to see you" He says looking at the ground "You missed mock court and I didn't see you at break"

"I'm going to be totally honest, I was avoiding you" I say to the ground

"Why?" He asks

"Because I was scared of what you would think of me" I tell him " I didn't want you to think of me any differently  or to be mad that I didn't tell you"

"It's not like I am anything to you" Uriah says confused "It's your business and I'm sure you would have told me anyway"

He nudges my shoulder playfully

"Besides, why do you care what I think?" He asks

"Can I ask you a question instead?" I ask

"Sure"

"Who do you crush on?" I ask with all the courage I can muster "At the party, Zeke asked if you liked someone in our group more than a friend and you said yes"

"Are we still being totally honest here?" He asks and I nod

"Well then why didn't you answer the question Will asked you?" He asks

" Because the person was in the room, I was embarrassed because they probably don't like me"

"Who is it?" He asks

" I'd rather not say" I tell him hoping my cheeks aren't turning red " Besides, you didn't answer the question"

"I'd rather not say" He smiles

"Fine I'm going back inside now" I say and I'm on my feet in seconds

"No!" Uriah says,  standing up before he grabs my wrist as I start walking towards the door

I spin around to face him

"I'll cut you a deal we will say it at the same time" He offers

"Ok" I say shakily

"You" We say in unison

I'm shocked

This kinda thing never happens

The guy never likes the girl back

He closes the space between us in a single step

"Well isn't that a relief" He says with a smile that makes my heart skip a beat " I was hoping to hear those words come out your mouth"

He tucks a lose strand of my long dark hair behind my ear but his fingers linger before he cups my face and his mouth meets mine

My body responds instantly, my spine tingles and my toes curl as I kiss him back

It is over way to quickly

Uriah steps back and I am speechless

Did I really just kiss Uriah Pedrad?

My hand travels to my lips in shock, Uriah can't wipe the smile of his face

"Look, I'm sorry but I kinda have to go" He says sadly

"No problem" I say equally as sad "I guess I'll see you at school"

" Yeah, I guess" He says and I can feel the awkwardness in the air

Neither one of us wants to be the first to leave

"Your brother is watching from the window" Uriah says nervously

"Let him" I whisper into his ear before I give him a kiss on the cheek and turn back towards the house and I shut the door with a happy sigh

"That good?" Tobias asked amused

"You have no idea" I smile
