Percy's POV

--2 years later--

'Sup Jase?' I asked, as I rapidly walked towards his house, trying to disguise my limp. I'd known him for 2 years and he was my best friend, my only friend really. I pushed away Grover, Annabeth, Thalia and everyone else. But for some reason, I couldn't bring myself to push him away too. I yawned, my fatigue creeping through my seemingly calm facade. I got hardly any sleep last night what with the typical beating and trying to dress my wounds.

'Hey Perce' he replied, striding towards me after shutting the door. I looked at him, studying the details of his face I had become so familiar with. His blue eyes were the colour of the sky on a clear day, they were the most defining thing about him. I stared dreamily into them, my thoughts consumed only with him.
'Perce, you good bro?' he asked, staring at me with a concerned look.
I shook myself out of my stupour, not willing to embarrass myself further.
'Yeah'

'Hop in' he smiled at me. I gladly accepted, forgetting at that moment all about my limp. As I opened the door and stepped up into his pick up truck my knee folded under my weight and I toppled to the floor.

'Shit! Shit! Shit!' I yelled

Jason rushed over to me, he came so quick it was almost as if he could fly.
'Oh my god, you good? What happened?' he questioned, firing words at me so quickly that my brain, overcome with pain, couldn't make sense of his rapid words.

'Huh?' I managed, still dazed with pain.

Jason knelt down beside me and proceeded to speak to me in a slower, calmer tone. I wasn't listening however, I was too busy staring at his face. I studied his pink lips, my eyes hovering over the jagged scar that whitened his top lip. I smiled at it, remembering the story he told me. He was two when he tried to eat a stapler, I couldn't stop laughing.

'Percy? You listening?'

'What? Oh, sorry, no'
He gave me a little eye roll.

'As I was saying, we should probably put some ice on your leg, it looks pretty bad'

I vigorously shook my head, he would see all the bruises.

'Perce, I think it's a good idea'

'No, Jase I'm fine. Look I can walk' I said, slowly standing up and regretting my decision immediately.

My knee hurt while my ankle flared up, feeling like one hundred needles were piercing the side of my foot. I quickly fell to the ground, unable to hold my weight up for much longer than that.

'Fine are you?' he asked, grinning at me.
I rolled my eyes in annoyance.
'Fine, you win, I'll get the bloody ice on one condition'

'What?' he asked, his face perplexed

'Well, seeing as I can't walk you're gonna have to carry me, superman'

I smiled at him, my eyes gleaming with mischief. I knew he wouldn't want to be late for school and carrying me would take way to much time and effort.

'A'ight'

My eyes widened in shock as he picked me up bridal style and headed inside the house, without so much as one complaint about how heavy I was. I know I'm not that heavy, in fact, I've been getting lighter, but still, carrying a 18-year-old boy must at least put some strain on your muscles.

Jason's POV

I gently lay Percy down on the sofa in the living room nearest the kitchen.
'Stay here' I told him. As I walked to the kitchen I was still in a daze.
