Jason's POV

'Come on Percy!'

I yelled, tapping my foot impatiently

'We're gonna be late!'
As usual, he didn't care.
'Time is a construction of our minds Jason, no one is ever really late'
I groaned loudly, he always hits me with stuff like this at the worst possible times.
'Percy... I swear to god' I said gruffly, letting my threat hang in the air

'Alright fine I'm coming!' he shouted down 'but just know you're ruining my look! You can't rush perfection you know'

I groaned again, a smile growing on my face, however.

He is such a drama queen.

I stared up as he slowly tried but failed to sashay down the stairs, his limp preventing him doing more than hobble.

I laughed.

Percy's eyes immediately narrowed
'Hey! Quit it!'

I struggled to keep a straight face but offered my arm to him nonetheless, helping him down the final few steps, taking extra care to ensure I don't put any pressure on his injuries.

Despite my efforts, I see him hold back pain, his eyes strained as I gently grab his arm. I withdraw my hand immediately.

'I'm sorry' I whisper

He smiles back

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
I hold open the car door for Percy, allowing him to daintly step out, scoffing at how much of a drama queen he is.
As we walk inside I can sense his unease, unsure of what to do I do the first thing that comes into my mind.
I reach for his hand
Before I know what is going on I'm giving has palm a squeeze, he surprisingly doesn't pull away- he instead holds on with just as much passion and fire.
'I can't' he suddenly mutters, standing still in the corridor
I look sympathetically at him
'You have to Percy, it will all be OK'
I gently tug at his hand and pull him towards the officer's desk- in our preparation to make a case.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

We stay sat there for at least two hours before the officer decides he's grilled us enough and allows a 5-minute break.

I sneak a quick look at Percy, our hands still interlocked after 2 hours, his face is pale and sweaty, the usual sparkle of humour in his eyes has vanished and the smile he was wearing only this morning is gone.
He's looking down, avoiding eye contact with everyone in the room.
'It's almost over' I mutter quietly, giving his hand a squeeze.

He looks at me gratefully, as if telling me that the mere fact I'm here right now is the most important part of our friendship.

I smile

Percy's POV

We finally arrive back at Jason's after 4 long hours.

I slowly get out of the car and follow Jason through the front door.

'A' ight' Jason says, checking his watch as he holds the door open for me 'it's six right now so dinner will be in 10 mins'

I subtly roll my eyes- More food?

I turn to my right and see Jason staring at me, hard.

'You need to eat Percy'

I pretend not to have heard him and continue unlacing my shoes.
'Percy....'
