11~ My Saving Grace

Percy's POV
I sat down on the roof, the sun kissing the horizon goodnight- allowing for the moon to take its place on the night sky.

I sighed, thinking back to our kiss.

How could you be so stupid, he's probably weirded out by you now. But he kissed back.

I tried to ignore my thoughts, allowing me a few moments of serenity to think the situation through.

I returned my focus to the gorgeous landscape in front of me.

Mounds of trees spread out, creating a thick forest. The sun was barely visible over their bristly tips, soaring skyward- as if trying to reach the stars.

'ad caelestia sequere' I whispered- remembering my Latin lessons. My eyes darkened at the thought, they were my mum's idea. One of the only things I had to remember her by- Gabe had found a way to destroy most others.

I shook my head, trying to expel all thoughts of Gabe- he was irrelevant now, I'm starting a new chapter- one without Gabe and with Jason.

With Jason?

And slowly it dawned on me. The full realization sweeping over me. I had known for some time now, it came like the ocean- slowly lapping at the shore, steadily building up and before you know it the full picture has finally arrived as the water washes over your head.

For once I didn't repel the thought, it's about time I accept myself- if I don't then who else will?

It's then that for the first time I allow the thoughts to come voluntarily, I let myself become submerged in them- no longer fighting the riptide but letting myself become taken by it.

Now I know-

I'm in love with my best friend.

I'm in love with Jason Grace.

Jason's POV

'Percy!' I finally yell, as soon as my shock has vanished, but he's gone.

I ball up my fists, my nails digging into my palm.
Why didn't you stop him?

I steel my nerves, ignoring the taunts from inside my head- I need to find Percy.

For the next 20 minutes, I run around my house like a maniac, checking every room, every closet, every storage cupboard.

I can't find him anywhere.

I hold back a wave of emotion as I open the last door, and see the empty room.

I slump down in the corridor in defeat- knowing I've lost my chance with him, perhaps forever.

A quiet patter of footsteps surprises me.
'Percy?' I say hopefully. To my dismay, Thalia strolls around the corner.

'Who?' she says, I roll my eyes, how the hell has she not noticed a whole other person living with us?

'The boy that has been living with us for the past few days- my best friend?'

'Ohh, Percy Jackson, yeah he's a prick'

'Excuse me?' I say, offended for Percy.

'He broke my friend, Annabeth' s, heart'

'What on earth are you talking about? You have no friends'

She smiles at me

'Well played Jase but contrary to popular belief I do indeed have friends. Seven years ago him, Grover and Annabeth were inseparable. Then one day after school he just ignored them and never spoke to them' she said, a disapproving look on her face 'and Annabeth had the biggest crush on him but he just acted like he didn't even know who they were' she continued.
