Percy's POV

I avoided his eye contact as I put my head back to my work.

It's like Jason over again

I groaned at my brain as I tried to get back to my work- ignoring his intense gaze on the back of my head.

'Percy?'

I looked up to see the speaker.

Leo's impish face was centimetres from mine, a goofy grin layered heavily on his face.

I rubbed my face with my hands.

I can't deal with this now

'Yes, Leo?' I asked tiredly

His grin didn't falter at my obvious disinterest in the impending conversation.

'Weeeeell' he said, casually sitting opposite to me; hands folded and his face carefully studying my sullen one.

'Yes..?'

'The gang and I h-'

I cut him off 'I'm sorry... The gang?' I asked, trying not to laugh.

'You know, Pipes, Frank, Hazel, Jaso-'

I flinched and Leo cleared his throat, cutting himself off and continued like nothing happened.

'and Annabeth'

'Nobody calls them "the gang"' I said, using air quotation marks

'I do' Leo said indignantly

'You sound like you're about to say "let's split up and look for clues"' I quipped

'Nah I'm Valdez,
Commander Tool Belt, Super-Sized McShizzle and Bad Boy Supreme. I ain't no stinkin Fred'

I rolled my eyes, grinning slightly.

'Aaaanyhoo' he said, eyes twinkling with mischief 'We noticed you've been a bit... Down'

I glared at him, but he didn't falter.

'And we wondered....' he trailed off

'Wondered.....?'

'Well...'

I raised an eyebrow

'What gives?'

I threw my face in my hands. 'You did not just quote Now You See Me 2'

Leo grinned impishly 'I did!' he proudly said.

A prolonged groan escaped my mouth as Leo cackled hysterically.

'But really, what gives?'

I glared at him once again before looking back at the unfinished work in front of me.

Welp, it's not like you're gonna get it done with this clown around.

I closed my book

'Nothing gives Leo'

'Uh huh,' he said, a pencil flitting between his nimble fingers. 'And I'm as straight as a line'

I chuckled 'That would never happen'

He frowned as the pencil, once so elegantly moving through his hand, tumbled to the ground.

'In all seriousness though Percy, what's up?'

I rolled my eyes but decided arguing would get me nowhere.

I told him the whole story, his eyes widened at each point.
