Chapter Twelve – Meeting A Warrior

"Someday someone is going to look at you with a light in their eyes you've never seen, they'll look at you like you're everything they've been looking for their entire lives. Wait for it." – Unknown

Alika was frozen in place. Something that never happened before. Him, frozen? How stupid. His predecessor would be disappointed in him. But he simply could not move, he didn't even think he had blinked since his eyes landed on her.

The only thing Alika could hear and process was the sound of the steady beat that his heart was making. His eyes were locked and focused solely on the dark-haired girl.

She is my master? Who was she exactly? What is her name? Where did she come from?

Unlike his body, Alika's mind was moving all over the place. Questions ran about his head, so many at once it caused a headache.

All of Alika's attention was solely on her. He could feel a connection with her. An odd and inexplainable feeling it was, this connection. It felt as if he knew her his whole life. As if they grew up together. He felt that he could trust her and that he would do anything for her.

What are you thinking? You haven't even spoken to her! Alika thought harshly. Why am I feeling this way?

"You are the elven warrior?" The woman asked, her beautiful silver eyes wide with awe.

He was taken aback by her eyes and what was being held in them. No one had looked at him in such a way before.

Who is this person and why is she making me feel this way?

"I am," Alika finally managed to speak. "Who are you?"

She hesitated for a moment. Conflicted with herself to answer a simple question. It made him wonder what her story was.

The woman returned her gaze to his, lifting her chin up. "My name is Licht."

The sound of her voice triggered something within Alika. He let out a gasp and fell to his knees, beads of sweat forming on his forehead. A forceful, striking chill shot through his body, causing him to tremble violently.

"Dear warrior, it is your time to serve and protect your one true leader. You are to give him your life and never betray him. Your destiny calls to you."

An ethereal female voice drafted softly but passionately into his head.

"My Lord!" Bart shouted out in concern, approaching him swiftly.

The feeling of a pure chill died down but lingered. He breathed heavily, his heart was pounding.

Licht walked over to him and she stopped in front of him. Bending down, she looked back into his sapphire eyes. The man in the black took a protective step towards her but the amber-haired woman stopped him before he could interfere.
