Byrd strode along the side of the gorge with her head held high, staying behind Octavia and Bellamy. She held her gun strong in her hands, mad she wouldn't be using her knives as much as she wanted to. But, if it meant less killing, she was ok with it.

'Two pillboxes, just like Echo said,' Bellamy spoke lowly.

Peppered gunshots sounded in the distance, all of them looking to the next cliff.

'That's our signal,' Bellamy whispered, the sound continuing.

'It's working. They're leaving,' Byrd chimed.

She looked to Octavia, who watched McCreary's men closely before she turned to face her army. She stood tall, nodding once; Indra nodding in reply. The grounder started forward, line after line of people following after. Byrd strode ahead with her best friend by her side, a set look of determination on her face. She held her gun sturdy against her chest, eyes roaming over the cliff tops for any sign of movement.

'Hey,' Miller jogged up beside her.

'Hey, loser,' She smirked.

'Thanks... For coming back.'

'You guys are all I got left, I'm not letting you go to war without me.'

'Did you find him?'

'Yeh... He's gonna be ok.'

'Good. I missed you, Byrd. We really could've used you back in Polis.'

'I missed you, too, Nat.'

She nudged him with her elbow, turning her focus back to the task at hand. As they closed in on the piles of rocks up ahead, the paths selected with plenty of hidey holes, Byrd's body tensed. And the second the first gunshot went off, she was firing back as bodies dropped around her. She stood in the middle of the chaos, hardly flinching when a bullet scraped her leg.

A scream left her mouth when she was thrown backwards by the blast of a plasmo gun, landing in a puddle of blood and mud. She groaned, pushing herself up on shaky arms until she was yanked up by Miller. She collapsed into him, letting him drag her behind a rock before he began to shoot over the top of it. She grabbed a smaller gun from his belt, joining in on the fight once more. She killed two of McCreary's men, watching as people began to retreat away from the gunfire.

'No! Advance! It's the only way!' She heard Octavia yell.

She looked over her shoulder to find Bellamy pulling the girl to cover, an annoyed sigh leaving her lips. She pushed herself up and ran across the clearing, gritting her teeth as pain shot through her leg.

'Tav, we can't win this,' She pushed her best friend backwards.

'Yes, we can,' Octavia growled.
