Byrd strode along the hall beside Octavia and Jaha, yells sounding up and down the hall. She shrunk into the wall when a group of grounders ran past, the rest of the group sinking to the ground. She gripped her smaller knife as she stood, slinking along the hall to stand behind Octavia. She scanned the hall, watching the grounders stride in the opposite direction.
'Which way?' Indra asked.
'Last room on the right,' Jaha stated as he collapsed against the wall.
She knew he was hurt more then he let on, his pale and clammy skin was a clear giveaway; but she wasn't going to say anything. Watching him die would be a pleasure, not a loss.
'This is where we split up,' Octavia instructed; 'Get to the vault door. I'll radio you once it's done.'
She looked to her best friend and nodded, pushing herself up to stand properly.
'Let's go,' She muttered.
She broke into a jog out in to the hall with Indra, Niylah and Gaia, putting on the act she needed to play.
'Skaikru hos of! Emo's step au gon ponis! Hod emo klin!' Gaia yelled.
The group of grounders were quick to turn and begin to follow after them, yelling out as they went. Byrd ducked off into an alley, hiding in the dark until they passed. She moved along the hall, heading back in the direction Octavia had gone; not trusting Jaha with her best friend. She followed the faint voices bouncing off the walls, pausing just outside the door as she listened to Jaha talk.
'I know you've never felt like you were a part of our people, and I don't fault you for that. Living on the Ark must have been so hard for you, so I'm truly sorry about that, Octavia,' Jaha spoke softly.
'Do we need to talk about this right now?' Octavie spoke lowly.
'Yes... Because, like it or not, we are your people. When you won the Conclave, you saved us, too.'
'What the hell do you want from me, Jaha? Connect the damn wires.'
'I said no.'
Byrd cocked a brow at that, a smirk slipping across her lips as he pulled her knife.
'Once we open that door, the Grounders gathered on the outside will pour in and kill everyone on the inside, guilty and innocent alike, even the children. I can't let that happen. I won't,' Jaha continued.
'Then we all die,' She stepped into the doorway.
She leant against the frame as Octavia sunk down the wall, placing her hands on top of her knees.
'Go to the door. Make the Grounders stand down, and when I have your word that only the guilty will be punished, I'll send the surge,' Jaha reasoned, his gaze flicking between the pair. They won't listen to me. Make them listen. You don't have to be a Commander to command.'
