"Wine?" Bree said to Dean as soon as he laid it out for tonight's dinner. "Yeah," He grunted, he was avoiding her eyes as he set up the table alone. Cas was in the bedroom talking to Zion. Sam was fixing the living room. Bree resisted an urge to roll her eyes at this. She can hardly believe Dean had alcohol in the house. It wasn't needed anyway, he didn't need to drink and neither did the others. They were hiding from Zero and the irresponsibility of his actions could affect them all. She stifled an urge to scoff at home and only helped him set the table in silence. When they were done, she noted Sam looking over at them with a concerned expression on his face but paid no mind.
He could be thinking about a number of things, truth be told. Sam tended to overthink a bit. "Dinner!" Dean yelled. Despite being in the same room as him, Bree couldn't help but to jump a bit at his outburst. She silently berated herself for doing so and sat down as soon as Cas and Zion appeared.
"This is spaghetti?" Cas said, eying the noodles in the pot on top of the wooden cutting board on the dining room table. "Yeah, it is." Sam said, coming up to sit down. Bree didn't catch sight of this and focused on serving herself. "I got everyone some wine, to sort of cool off a bit." Dean said out loud.
Zion and Cas glanced at each other, sharing a look. Sam merely served himself dinner after Bree finished. Dean served everyone a glass of wine, careful not to drop the bottle. Then he prayed quickly for everyone saying grace and they all ate.
After dinner was over, Sam watched the news on the tv meanwhile the Angels went back in the room talking. Dean was putting away the dishes into the sink to wash. Tired of having not much to do, Bree followed him in there.
"Mind if I help you?" She said begrudgedly. She actually didn't want to help him but to do the job herself. "I don't." He said quietly. She ignored how his voice sounded to her and went on to help him dry the dishes and only passing them back if he missed a spot.
"You needed something to do, right?" He asked her as he passed her a plate. She didn't see him as she put it away after checking it, so he signed it to her. She smiled slightly in answer. "I'm sorry, Bree." He signed to her.
"For what?" She said. "For me." He said. She gave him a confused look at this. "I should be more considerate and not so combative with you the last couple of days." He signed to her. The expression on her face cleared.
"I'll accept your apology if you admit most of the arguments stemmed from you." She signed to him, smirking. Dean chuckled at that. There's his girl. "I make no promises." He said, smirking back at her. She hit him on the arm lightly. He didn't mind it, the fact that her hand were slightly warm from the sink water.
"The second bottle is in the fridge, want a second glass?" He asked her after they finished the dishes. Bree knew she shouldn't but she couldn't resist the nice buzz she had from dinner. She liked how the evening was changing for the better.
"Sure, I wouldn't mind. Are you going to have a second glass as well?" She asked him. She chanced a look up at his face. His green eyes were soft. Soft like he was looking at her as if he were almost in love with her. Softer than she's seen in the last week or so. She's only seen so much of his temper, truth be told.
They were soft and reminding her of a park she went to with Mel when they were little kids, it felt like she was home. Lord, he is beautiful. A bit rough around the edges. A man's man but a big softie in the middle. Maybe it was the wine talking.
"Of course, a gentleman never lets a woman drink alone." He said answering her with a wink. There it was, the qualities of the man she was beginning to crush on—the playful suave answers, the beautiful smirk. He poured her another glass.
