~Chloe’s POV~

“Why……going to the waterfall?!” I heard a voice yell. I couldn’t hear the words in the middle clearly. The voice sounded so damned familiar. I couldn’t see anyone, but the sounds came from the direction of our camp site. The guys could have noticed my absence and came looking for me. I had to get out of there then! I rushed out, grabbed my stuff, threw on my clothes mid-run, and ran back to the camp site via the long way, avoiding the route I had heard the sounds came from.

When I returned, I surveyed the area. The guys were not back yet. I just realised how I was so close to being caught. I decided to sit by the campfire and await their return.

After several minutes of prodding the fire aimlessly, the three guys entered my vision. “Uhm, hey guys,” I greeted with smile, hoping that they didn’t find me suspicious.

“Hey. Where did you disappear to just now?” Lewis asked, half-heartedly as though he had a lot going through his mind. He seemed thoroughly annoyed at a certain thing that may have happened in my absence. I decided on an answer one would consider normal.

“I went to answer the call of nature.”

“Oh…”

“Where did you guys go? I came back to see the place empty,” I asked, which would be the normal thing to do for someone in that situation.

“We went looking for you,” He replied simply. Not being his usual teasing self was quite disturbing, not that I liked being the one being teased though.

“Missed me didn’t you?” I tried lightening the atmosphere which seemed heavy all of a sudden when Ciel walked back to the tent and I realised that Shane and Lewis were just standing there, not moving.

“I miss my face,” Lewis replied with a pout. Okay. He was the first person I knew that could get depressed over prolonged periods of not seeing his face. I raised an eyebrow at him. Remembering that I kept a mirror in my side pocket, I pondered over whether I should continue to let him feel tortured or relief his agony. I decided on the latter upon seeing his face, which reminded me of a little boy being denied his candy.

“Here,” I reached for my pocket, pulling my mirror out and handing it to him. As though he saw the love of his life, his eyes sparkled, snatching the mirror out of my hands within a second. My god, he was impossible. He would have maxed out a narcissistic test. He examined his face and smiled with such joy that made me want to roll my eyes due to the origin of his happiness. I couldn’t really blame him though. With such unrealistically gorgeous looks, not looking only at a mirror for life was quite remarkable. He really was damn good-looking, like a prince in a fairytale.

I stopped ogling at him when I realised that I was and looked to the side. Shane was just standing beside Lewis, looking at the ground. He looked quite disturbed. It absolutely did not mar his perfect looks though, still as stunning. Okay, I was side-tracking. Did something happen while they were out looking for me? “Shane? Are you okay?” I asked worriedly. His head snapped up immediately upon hearing my voice.

“Y-yes I’m fine,” He replied shakily, blushing when his eyes made contact with mine and dropped it quickly. His face looked really red, it was flaring. I walked closer to him and raised my hand to touch his forehead but he ducked it agilely. I felt a pang of hurt inside, and it was weird since I did not even know what caused it.

“I’m really fine. I-I’ll just go get some rest.” He turned back to the tent and I was left alone with Lewis. I sighed. I looked at Lewis and sighed again. It was so dark and the only light we had was from the bonfire and the moonlight, yet he was satisfied just to be able to see a silhouette of himself.

“Lewis, return me my mirror. It’s time for us to rest. We need to get back to school tomorrow,” I said, which I kind of regretted a little bit – just a little bit – when I saw his disappointed look. He handed it back to me walked back to the tent. I followed in after him and he was settling in his sleeping bag. I settled in mine, gave Shane a last fleeting look and drifted off to sleep.
