“Okay, what do you suggest we do?” I asked Kev. Excitement surged through me, I couldn’t wait to have fun with them.
“Hey, since we’re out, what do you think about calling Mel over?” Kev’s eyes filled with hope and excitement. Oh my goodness! He was brilliant! It was difficult to see each other often when we were in different schools, but on breaks like this, we could try to meet up!
“Brilliant idea Kev! But, we need to seek Lewis’s and Shane’s opinion. Like, it’s a group thing y’know, and Lewis owns the place,” I clapped my hands together and grinned at Kev. Oh man, it was so going to be awesome if the guys approved!
“Yep, definitely.”
We both headed to Shane’s room and called him to join us at Lewis’s which was on the floor above ours. Anticipation bubbled within me and I felt like I was filled with helium and could fly any moment. We entered Lewis’s room, and for a moment, I forgot why we needed to talk to him.
His room was really bright and huge. It had a modern and luxurious look. Floor-length windows lined one side of the room. The carpet was made of fur; long white fluffy fur. I wondered how much was spent on just his room alone. Okay, I was digressing. The main part of it was; there was like a giant mirror along one side of the wall right beside his walk-in closet, where I could see another mirror peeking out from the entrance from where I was standing. He sure did love himself very much.
“Your room sure is awesome, man!” Kev said to Lewis. ‘Awesome’ was totally an understatement. I couldn’t think of a word that could fit it though, it was beyond description and no words could describe it.
“Thanks. I think it’s because of my lovely mirrors that you guys can see more reflections and angles of me that make my room so appealing,” Lewis laughed and I think he actually meant what he said, such narcissism!
I rolled my eyes at him and remembered the reason why we were looking for him. “Lewis, do you mind if Kev and I invited a friend over? It’s quite rare of an opportunity to leave school so we would like to take this chance to meet up.” I twirled my fingers and stared at them, praying intensely that he would agree.
“Is it a ‘he’, or a ‘she’?”
“A ‘she’. Melanie’s her name. She’s really, really nice,” I answered. “And pretty,” I added quickly, mentally praying to every single god in the universe that he would agree.
“Of course!” He agreed almost instantly, waggling his eyebrows. “A HOT CHICK’S COMING GUYS!” I rolled my eyes. It seemed like Lewis was being all riled up by himself. Shane just seemed to be mildly interested in our friend and well, it was normal if both Kev and I were excited since we were best friends with Mel.
I hurriedly ran back to my room and grabbed my cell. “HOLA BONITA!” I shouted into the speaker. I had to pull my ear away from the phone when Mel squealed her reply. I missed her so, so much! I told her that we were on a school break for a week, were at a friend’s house, and that she could come see us. She screamed and I’d bet a hundred bucks she was nodding her head furiously despite me not being able to see it. I waited for her excitement to subside and told her the place.
“Colt! Your friend’s here! Hurry! Introduce us!” Lewis dragged me by my arm, off my bed. It was only like an hour and a half since I called Mel and she was here already. I waited as Mel got off her helicopter, her attendants trailing after her.
“MEL!” I greeted, wrapping my arms around her as she squeezed me back. “It’s so great to see you! I missed you so much!” Mel squealed. She didn’t want to let me go and just kept hanging onto my neck. I noticed Lewis standing beside us and pulled her arms away from my neck.
“Mel, this is Lewis. Lewis, this is Melanie,” I introduced them. They seemed to be checking each other out. Lewis held out his hand and Mel shook it. He winked his signature wink at her and I rolled my eyes.
“You know how to fly a helicopter?” Lewis asked Mel, slightly amazed. Mel was an heiress so she was very, very rich. However, she wanted to live her life “normal”, as she claimed. Hence, she entered my elementary school. However, her life outside school was pretty much far from “normal”. I had never been to her house – her parents thought it dangerous for Mel as it would increase risks of her being kidnapped – but I believe it would be like Lewis’s.
“Yepp, I took lessons,” Mel replied and turned her attention back to me, asking me all sorts of questions – of course, none exposing my cover since I had already warned her about it on the phone. We headed back inside and Lewis grabbed me again. “Give us a minute,” he said to Mel and pulled me aside.
Disbelief, shock, and dismay were written all over his face. “Is your friend a lesbian?” I was utterly surprised by that question. “No! What made you think so?!”
“She totally disregarded my presence! I was there, and yet she chose to talk to you?! A normal girl would never do that! Never! A normal girl would do anything to spend even a second with me! I’m the perfection of men!” he was kind of shouting at me already. Okay, so his ego was hurt. I guess there was only one way that could pretty much cause the least problems. “Play hard to get,” I leaned in and whispered to him. Then, Mel and I could pretty much do nothing while he was off our backs! Mwahahaha, I felt kind of mean, but I guess the truth could be told after our break when Mel wasn’t around to be pestered by him.
We walked back to where Mel was waiting for us, fiddling with her phone.
