I saw Ashton at our gig that night. I was on stage, just rocking out when my eyes caught his. He smiled at me and gave me a thumbs up. I couldn't really do much in return so I just gave him a small head nod.
After the show, I washed my hair in the bathroom sink and towel dried it. I wasn't too concerned about my appearance, so I just threw it into a quick braid.
Coming out of the bathroom, I didn't see a cord on the ground and tripped over it. Before I could hit the ground, someone's arms were around me, preventing me from gaining a concussion.
Ashton's grinning face appeared. "Throwing yourself into my arms already?" He teased, helping me stand upright.
"In your dreams," I retorted.
"Every night." Ashton said jokingly.
I rolled my eyes and straightened my shirt out. "Why are you here?"
"I just happened to be here." He shrugged, fighting to keep a grin off of his face.
"Sure..." I said sarcastically.
Ashton let the smile spread over his features. "Okay, fine. I came to see you."
"You're really weird."
"I'm aware."
I let a small grin touch my lips, making sure to not let it stretch out too far.
Ashton frowned. "How come you don't smile?"
I shrugged. "Don't like to."
"But there are so many things to be happy about," Ashton protested.
"I know." I stated simply.
"What's your last name?"
"What?"
"What's your last name?" He repeated.
"Um, it's Miller."
Ashton straightened up and said, "You're a mystery, Jade Miller, and I'm determined to figure you out."
