chapter fourteen Dawn
The morning light was beginning to poke through the small window when Ray woke up. Her eyes were still tired from the night before, but her heart was fluttering with the memories.
She thought back to last night and blushed at the thoughts running through her mind. Little kisses along her neck and her collarbone, the feeling of his hand on her body; touching her in ways that she longed for. The feeling of his bare chest pressed against hers and his hot breathe on her neck.
The way he would bite his bottom lip to suppress any moans that would have escaped him otherwise. The way that his hair fell and would brush against her bare shoulders. Even the way he would make her toes curl again and again.
Everything about last night was perfect to Ray.
When her eyes landed on the man who made last night so great, a small smile spread across her lips. Bucky was fast asleep next to her; his warm arm wrapped tightly around her middle while his head was buried in the pillow next to hers.
She turned on her side, moving closer to his warm body. Then she slowly reached out and brushed his hair back, looking at his peaceful face.
And she thought back to the day he came here. How he wouldn't meet her eyes and how he didn't even talk to her for a few weeks. And then once they did, everything changed.
She was so thankful for whatever road he took to get him to here, to her. She couldn't imagine her life without him. And she knew that he had a dangerous past and that he could be dangerous. But he would never hurt her; she knew that. And she trusted him. She didn't care what he did when he was brainwashed by the Nazi terrorist group. It wasn't him.
She knew the real him. She knew Bucky. And she loved him more than anything else in the world.
Ray's fingers moved from his hair to his face and she traced the beautiful features. She thought it was crazy, a hundred year old man but still looked her age. Somewhat. She knows he must have begun being iced around her age.
When Ray's fingertips traced the outline of his lips and the little hairs that hadn't been shaven, Bucky's eyes opened.
He sighed tiredly. "Keep doin' that."
Ray smiled and cupped the side of his face. "I love you." Her voice was barely a whisper.
But he heard it. He moved his head and kissed the palm of her hand. "I love you too, baby doll."
The woman laughed at his old sayings. Sometimes it was like he slipped back and said things from the forties. She adored it, but she would never tell him that. She would only make fun of it.
