Hayley's P.O.V
I wasn't sure how long it had been since me and Jack started talking and just relaxing in the gym, it felt like it had only been half an hour but before I knew it the bell rang out telling us lessons had finished for the day. "Shit! Have we really been in here that long?" I asked slowly sitting back up from the comfy seat to look over at him. He nodded with a smile getting up and offering a hand that I accepted. "Wow, time really flys when you're having fun doesn't it?" I said with a small smile walking next to him as we exited the gym into the corridor. "Yeah, it really does. Do you know where you have to go for cheerleading practice?" he mumbled seeming like he was deep in thought. I shrugged assuming it would be where try out were held. "Come on, I'll show you" he said holding open the door leading down the stairs. I could hear the buzzing of people coming out of gym class and walking outside ready to be heading home and getting ready for the pep rally later tonight. Excitement bubbled in me realising that it would be my first ever rally and a smile came to me soon to be wiped away with longing for my brothers and parents to be here to see it. I missed them so much, I didn't realise how hard it would be without them. All I want to do is at least check to see how they are doing and to make sure everything is alright but I've come to realise that it is best for me to just leave them alone.
"Is everything alright?" Jack said pulling me to look at him when we reached the bottom of the stairs. I sniffled a bit before nodding with a fake smile hoping he wouldn't notice. He seemed to doubt me for a few moments but decided to let it go which I was thankful for. "There you are!" a voice I recognised said in an overly cheery voice. "Hey Molly, sorry to keep her from you. She took me up on the offer of showing her around the sports department and we have just been in the gym" Jack quickly lied what I was thankful for. The petite brown haired girl stood in front of us now smiling warmly to me clearly excited making a smile of my own come. "Of course it's alright! But I'm taking her from here so you can go now" she said smiling over to Jack and taking my hand dragging me off. Laughing freely, I let her pull me away and down to the room we was in for try outs. "See you girls later then!" I heard Jack shout before I was pulled into the room. Inside Milly and some other bimbos sat talking in hushed tones on the seats throwing glances to some of the girls what were at try outs with me earlier and snickering. They really have nothing better to do with their time than gossip?.
"Okay ladies, we thank you all for trying out for the team earlier and we are now going to call out the names of the people what made the team" Molly shouted letting go of my hand and standing in front of all of us. A nervous feeling settled in my stomach and I twiddled my hands looking at Molly for any clue to weather I got in or not. The blonde girl from detention sat next to Milly picking at her nail polish looking around before her green eyes rested on me. Is that a good or a bad sign? "Megan Bird, Stacy Rose, Tay Lilley..." Molly started. Soon there was a small group of girls forming each getting handed a cheerleading uniform and taking a seat. I let out the breath I had been holding in when my name was called and made my way over. "...and that's it, better luck next time girls" Molly said and started to walk next to me with a huge smile on her face what I returned. "So, you excited to be on the team? the girls just loved you! we couldn't not have you with us!" She said grinning making me laugh at how happy she was. I wish I could match her enthusiasm but thoughts of my family still resting heavily on me. I just want to know they're okay. "You're a small right?" Molly asked picking up the last uniform out of a small brown box. I nodded taking it from her and sitting down with the rest of the team.
"Before we get started there are a few things we need to do first" Molly said standing at the front and sending a smile around to everyone. "As you are probably all aware we are having a pep rally tonight to introduce all you newbies as the new members of the team! This will involve a simple routine created by you guys tonight, a bonfire hosted by the football team and a live band what will be doing songs by request! So if you all want to go to the changing rooms through those doors and get into uniform we can start!" she said in her overly cheery voice. Slowly all of us got up and headed to the changing rooms buzzing with excitement and nerves. "Hi, you're Hayley right?" a timid voice said. I turned round seeing a small girl with short ginger hair put up in a bun fiddling with the bottom of her grey shorts. I nodded wondering what she wanted. "I'm Megan" she said holding out a hand. I shook her hand and turned back around taking off my shirt and replacing it with the black, red and white crop top then taking off my shoes and shorts and putting the skort on. "You nervous for the pep rally?" she asked putting her trainers back on now like I was. "Yeah a little bit, this is my first one" I said double notting both shoes. "Same! I've been trying out for 2 years now, just so happy to finally be on the team!" she said smiling getting up and bringing her old clothes with her. I did the same opening the door for her and following back to the seats and waited for everyone else to come in so we could start.
