Cheyenne

The next morning when I woke up my eyes had to adjust to the brightness again, but it was much quicker and less painful than it had been before.

I sat up and stretched my arms above my head then leaned down and grabbed the bottoms of my feet, pulling myself to stretch some muscles in my legs.

I wasn't hooked up to any machines, Dr. Martha said I wouldn't have to be down here much longer, they just wanted to monitor me and possibly do some blood tests.

I saw a note on the table, tray thing on wheels and grabbed it, reading it over to see it was from Stephan, my 'translator.'

He won't be able to translate for me until later, which was fine, I didn't really plan on talking to anyone for now anyway.

I slid out of the bed and looked down at myself, I was still in the sweats and a huge black sweater, I didn't really care so I just went to the bathroom, washed my face and brushed my teeth before walking to the door.

I slowly turned the handle and opened it, cringing when it squeaked loudly. No one appeared to scold me though, and I was surprised, I was expecting to be told to stay in my room or something.

I placed my bare foot on the cold tile outside of the room, which was covered with a gray colored rug thing, and stepped outside. I tried to be as quiet as possible, and that meant I was traveling basically silently.

As I continued walking I came to an elevator and a set of stairs, and I decided to take the stairs to avoid more people seeing me.

On the elevator there was an up and down arrow, which meant I was on a floor in the middle of the hospital.

I opened the door to the stairs, but just before the door closed I heard the beep of the elevator, so I ducted away from the window in the door.

All I heard was some footsteps walking towards the way my room was, making me want to know who it was, so I waited a few seconds as looked, seeing the back of someone I assumed was Markus, and then quickly backed out of shot of the window again.

I looked at the metal plate above the door to see that I was on floor four, recovery unit, and so I headed down the stairs, checking each door as I passed them.

Once I got to the lobby I opened the door and stepped into a busy front room, it wasn't hard to slip past everyone and exit outside.

The floor changed again, to the cement of sidewalks, which were warm, as I padded down it. I just sort of looked at the different buildings, there wasn't anyone out, which was kind of odd, but I didn't really give it much thought, who knows how many people actually live here?

I was headed back to see Cheyenne, I had left her alone after she said she wanted to go to bed yesterday, but I think she just didn't want to be around me.

I didn't want her to hate me, but she probably always will. I sighed as the elevator opened and I heard a door shut next to the elevator so I looked to the window of the stairs and didn't see anything. I didn't smell anything either so I just ignored it.

I quickly made my way down to Cheyenne's room, knocking the door before opening it. She wasn't in her room so I looked to the bathroom to see the door open.

"Cheyenne?"

There was no reply so I quickly looked in the bathroom and saw nothing, making me start to panic.

"Dr. Martha!" I called running down to her office.

"Yes, Alpha? Is something wrong with Cheyenne?" she asked, opening the door to her office.

"She's missing, wasn't a nurse supposed to be watching her?"

"Yes but I was short handed this morning because my best nurse called in sick and she was called off her post to help other patients. I do know you are the Alpha but I have people who are sick and need our help, so I apologize for my tone but watching after your mate wasn't at the top of the list for things we needed to do." Martha said angrily, you could see the tiredness in her eyes.

There were very few people who were allowed to talk to me like that, and she was one of them. She's saved the life of at least half of the pack and I owe her.
"Dr. Martha, please rest, you look extremely tired. Call in the other head doctor and have him take over for today. You need sleep."

With that I took off down the hall and rode the elevator to the main lobby and stepped into a room less busy than when I got here just a few minutes before, but it was still quite busy.

I quickly made my way outside, greeting a few people who noticed me in all the commotion, and stepped onto the side walk.

I might have imagined it, but I thought I saw a figure turning around a the corner to my left, so I followed it.
