Jace's P.O.V
"What do you have for me?" I ask as we look down at the floor plans of the garage.
"Everything is strange there man. There are two meetings that take place everyday in two different places. One in the boardroom, which is the normal one, it's just to get feedback from all the workers on business operations and developments and for announcements. Then there's the one in the basement. But the people who attend that meeting are not employees at the garage. I'm thinking investors or allies. Both not legal, obviously. He hasn't taken me down there yet but I have a feeling he will very soon since he's showing me all the ropes so that I can help him 'build his empire'." He explains and I nod looking at all the places he pointed at on the plans.
"What about information? Is there anything you think is solid enough to nail him? Or at least start an legal investigation?" I ask.
"Not in the financial statements I've seen so far. But, his P.A is meant to give him some more financial books, which I think may have something to prove that he is in fact laundering money there. All the statements of the business are electronic documents except for these books, which means he doesn't want them getting mixed up with the legal papers and to make sure that there's no chance of the auditor finding out about it." He explains further and I nod my head in understanding and satisfaction.
"We need to get in though. I need my men to continue searching the garage to get some sort of evidence of my father being there. Somehow the lab results of the blood sample we got is inconclusive maybe due to there being more than one person's blood. So it might not belong to who I thought it belonged to." I say and he stares at the plans in deep thought.
"Apart from the basement, that office by the left corner, second floor is always locked. No one except my father goes in there. Only he has the key to the office that he always has on him. But, the main keys of the entire garage has one key that can unlock all of the doors and gates in the garage. The master key for in case any other keys are lost. I'm almost positive that it can also unlock that door." I start thinking about what Evan is saying and I think that he is right. If that key is to backup all the other doors and gates in the garage then surely it can open this particular door. If there's any office we need to investigate, it's that one.
"Is there anyway you can get the a hold of the key?" I ask Evan and he nods his head reluctantly. "I need to get him to trust me enough to let me stay behind and lock up the garage. That way you and your men will be able to continue looking for any signs of your father being there and also my father having anything to do with his death." He says and I nod, liking the idea. Getting Evan to work for Edgar is the best idea I could've come up with.
"You have no idea how greatful I am for all your help." I say and he chuckles.
"I could say the same thing to you. I want nothing more than to see that man rot in jail and as far away from my mom and sister as possible. He's hurt them enough." He says balling up his fists and I nod my head in understanding. I commend him for being so calm about the whole thing."So, you and Kathy heh?" Evan says wiggling his eyebrows suggestively and I rub the back of my neck. "Yeah man. Your sister is just something else. Special. I've never met anyone like her. She's perfect." I say and he nods with a proud look on his face. I can tell that he loves her so much. He's always talking about her and of course I don't mind, I love hearing about her. Learning more about her.
"I'm glad you feel that way, because I can tell that you make her happy. But to get this out of the way, you won't be happy again if you break her heart. Got it?" He says getting serious and to be honest I would've been worried if he didn't mention that. Trisha basically said the same thing to me last week and it's good to know that Kathy has people who care about her and have her best interest at heart. "I don't plan to. I wouldn't want to ruin what we have you know." I say, throwing in a joke at the end. "Haha. I should get going now. I don't want him to get home before me." Evan says and I couldn't agree more. I wish there was more I could do to get them out of this situation sooner. Especially Kathy. My mind is never at ease when she has to go back to her house. Even though I know Evan looks out for her, I can't help but worry every single day.
