Summer is a time for fun, adventure and discovery. Akefia and I have been doing none of that. Without a reason to leave the house neither of us do, choosing instead to binge shows all day and read when the mood strikes. We got through all of Good Omens in a 24-hour period. Today however, I wake up around noon to find Akefia gone and a text on my phone explaining he's out 'skirt shopping' with Bakura today. At that alternative store where he buys all his quirky clothes. Subsequently I commit myself to the task of leaving his room and going downstairs.

I arrive in the kitchen, looking out on the Game Shop and Melvin standing by the counter. "Haven't seen you in a while," he grins at me. The regular customers look over too, unused to seeing the employee with perfectly done makeup and hair in nothing but pyjamas. I idly comb my hair with my fingers as I stare apathetically at them, standing by the coffee machine just waiting for it to alert me my beverage is ready.

"I'll cover next shift," I mumble almost unintelligibly, padding back upstairs to change into something work appropriate.

I return downstairs in my dark grey vest and one of Akefia's black shirts, along with my regular low cut grey jeans. My hair is combed straight and shining, and my liquid liner giving me the flawless cat eye look. "So why did you choose to rejoin society?" Melvin smirks, grabbing his tips out the little tray.

"Mh, cause Akefia actually went outside today and I figured I owe him this much,"

From one of the game tables, Yugi looks over curiously. "What are you talking about?"

"He's out with Bakura?"

Melvin snorts. "Akefia is passed out in the kitchen,"

"What?" I go through to find him indeed slumped over a coffee mug with his hair just brushing the table surface. He lifts his head slowly to acknowledge me, face mostly covered by wisps of morning bedhead. Bags under his eyes just as dark as my own. "Akefia!" I scold.

"Ugh, tired. Whaaat?" he whines, folding his arms over his head, using them as a pillow to lie his head on the table. I can see loose strands of his fringe shift when he blinks. Under his head and behind his folded arms is a spiral notepad with attached pen, the pages blank.

"I was out there because I thought you were being productive today, Guess not," I shrug, making my own coffee and sitting at the table next to him. Reaching over, I run my hand through his hair, gently petting his fluffy head. "I guess not. I know you're sleepy but for me, try to stay awake so we can get back on schedule?"

"Says miss 'lies in bed till mid afternoon',"

"Rich coming form the person who naps at a kitchen table,"

"Passing out from sleep depravation doesn't qualify as a nap,"

"That's literally what a nap is,"

"Trouble in paradise," It's Yami, having just come downstairs too. He goes over to the kettle, noticing it's empty and I used all the water for my own coffee. Wordlessly he starts refilling it at the sink.

"Fuck off, not in the mood," Akefia groans at Yami.

"Whatever, only joking. Geez," I wish I had a pillow down here, I have the sudden urge to smack him in the face with something. Thankfully Yami has no desire to be away from his precious aibou for long so he makes himself a steaming cup of green tea, a loose leaf brand from Japan and goes back upstairs. I check the box he used, $8. Who spends $8 on a box of tea?
