I followed behind Luke, until we came to the same train track we had been at before, and he sat, taking his book bag off of his back. He opened it taking out a map, and looked around at his surroundings.
I licked my lips, still tasting a little taco bell from earlier that day.
"Okay." He said to himself. "We're in the right spot."
He pulled out another piece of paper with written information, shoving extras he pulled out, back in.
"Nezbit, come here." He said.
I walked towards him. He grabs my wrist, pulling me down to check the time.
"Alright, five more minutes ." He said to himself again.
"Until what?" I asked.
"Oh yeah, almost forgot to tell you." He said. "Okay, so the train is going to come by and we're going to jump on it."
"Jump on it?!" I panicked.
"Yeah, it's really easy, trust me."
"To jump on a moving train?! Have you saw a moving train before?!"
He chuckled. "They slow down when they get close to populated areas Nez, it's the law."
"I don't care, doesn't mean we couldn't die!"
He sighed, shaking his head. "Nezbit, stop listening to educated adults."
"What?" I asked in confusion.
"They're brain washing you."
I'm not sure if he knows the meaning of brain wash. Unless that means giving you a dirty free mind.
"Um, I don't think so."
"I know so." He insisted. "Stop standing in that little box they built up for you. There's a huge world to explore, and so many things to do, but you just sit in that little box, waiting for excitement to find you."
I furrowed my eyebrows.
"Take risk, it'll be cool to say you did everything you wanted."
"Well... I don't want to jump on a train, so I'll pass."
"But you want to go to Australia." He pointed out.
I stared at him.
Is he saying he won't take me if I don't do this?
He shrugged. "Your choice, but I just did a shit load of research, I'm going, with or without you."
I sighed. "Luke!" I whined.
The sound of a train is heard in the distance. I looked u down the track to see orbs of small light getting bigger and bigger as the sound of the train got louder.
"Coming or not?" He asked.
"Coming." I sighed.
"Good." He said, tightening the straps of my bag to my arms.
"Okay, when the train comes by, count the boxes of each open door, there's usually a pattern. Each open door has a ladder next to it. Jump on the ladder of the sixth open door you see, okay?"
I nodded. "Okay."
"Now, I'm going to run down there so I can get on it first, alright."
I nodded once more.
"Don't be scared." he said starting to run. "You got this!"
Moments passed, I watched Luke focus on the train, then jumped to a ladder and climb in the big box like train thing.
