JACK AND JENNA

•JACK'S POV•

"Jack, you've gotten all these questions right. Why do you need help?" Jenna asked, pointing at the books in front of us.

We were sat in the library with our books open on the table, it was one o'clock and Jenna was attempting to help me with some Maths, although I was perfectly capable of doing it myself. My palms were sweaty so I rubbed them on my jeans and bit my lip trying to sneak a look at Jenna without her noticing. It wasn't working.

"Uh, did I? Whoops, I guess I don't need help then." I said and Jenna laughed. "But now that we're here, I want to ask you something."

Jenna raised an eyebrow, "go on."

I breathed in deeply and tried to shrug off my nerves. I suddenly remembered a time a couple of years ago when I was in the same situation. I thought back to it now.

•Flashback•

I sauntered up to Melisa with a smirk on my face. I lent my arm above my head on the locker next to where she stood.

"Hey." I said as she noticed me standing there.

"Hi, Jack" Melisa smiled, packing a few books into her bag as she asked, "what do you want?"

"Oh, I was just wondering if you'd like to go to Keith's party with me." I stated, my voice confident and strong.

"Of course I will Jack." She replied smiling at me.

"Great, I'll see you later then." I turned around and strolled down the corridor.

That Friday I went over to Melisa's house and knocked on the door. We lived a few streets away from each other and Keith's house was near to both of us.

The door opened and an older version of Melisa stepped out. "Who are you?"

"I'm Jack, I'm here to pick up Melisa for the party at Keith's. Did she not tell you?" I questioned.

"Yes, but she's already gone. She went with a guy called Oscar, looks like you've been stood up. Sorry." Melisa's older sister said and shut the door, blasting cool air onto me.

I didn't feel anything toward her again.

•Flashback ends•

"Jack?" Jenna waved her hands in front of my eyes to get my attention. "What were you going to ask?"

"Nevermind." I muttered.

"Well, I have something to ask you." Jenna stated leaning forwards, her elbows resting on the desk. "Because it looks like you're too scared to ask me."

Now it was my turn to raise an eyebrow and say go on.

"Will you go to the dance with me?" She asked without a pause.

"Yes, that's exactly what I've been trying to ask you!" I sighed in relief.

Jenna giggled and started to pack up her books, "I know."

"That's a relief. Mason said he'd take me because Jason's going on his moped with Issy, so we'll pick you up."

"Sounds great, I'll see you later. I need to go." Jenna announced, and swinging her bag onto her shoulder, she walked away.

Cody, Tanner and Jason all rushed out from behind a bookcase and swarmed around me.

"Did you ask?"

"Did she say yes?"

"What happened?"

The questions kept coming although they gave me no time to answer any of them.

"Dude, it looked like you were freaking out." Tanner laughed.

"Woah guys, I didn't even ask." I said, holding out my hands to keep them back.

The smiles fell off their faces as they all looked at each other and shook their heads.

I heard Tanner mutter something that sounded like 'idiot'.

"But she did." I added before any of them could make a comment.

"Really? Well done Jack it looks like you have a date to the dance!" Cody remarked, patting my back.

"I knew she would ask." Jason smiled at me.

"Why were you guys hiding behind the bookcase?" I questioned.

They all shared the same knowing look.

"We figured that if neither of you aksed, we'd step in." Jason finally spoke. "But we could hardly hear anything so when Jenna walked away, all we could do was pray that one of you had enough guts to ask."

I laughed, "I'm glad that I have friends like you guys."

"You should be, we're awesome." Tanner stated, swinging his arm around my shoulder as we walked out of the room to enjoy the rest of the afternoon.

Haven't updated in a month, whoops. Luckily I know exactly what the next chapter is going to be. So once I've finished all my homework I will attempt to write some more, but it'll probably only be published sometime next week :(
