HIS LEATHER JACKET

•IZZY'S POV•

I woke up with a zig-zag line pressed into my face from a leather jacket, that I did not recognise. It smelt vaugely familiar and I almost fell off my bed once I realised who it belonged to. I launched myself to the end of the bed and stared at the mysterious object before my eyes, I reached forward to touch it.

It didn't disappear.

So that meant that last night really happened? It wasn't just a dream?

Glad you finally realised, genius. My brain decided to share its opinion, I swear my brain is meant to be alseep at 7:15 am on a Monday morning I thought as I stared at my clock.

Wait... Did I say seven fifteen, on a Monday?

Yes genius. Yes you did. NOW GET UP!

"Shoot" I muttered under my breath as I rushed around the room trying to get ready as fast as I could. I had just run down the stairs and grabbed a cereal bar as a loud honk sounded from outside my front door. I looked out the window to see Jason with his nose squashed up against the glass as he waved vigorously with his other hand.

Aww, he looked so...

Don't you dare say cute. You're going to say cute. Don't.

I was rudely cut off by my omniscient brain. Stupid brain.

That is just contradictory, how can I be all knowing but also stu...

Now it was my turn to cut off my conscious as I rushed to the door to let Jason in.

"Hey" He smirked, leaning against the door frame, one leg crossed casually over the other.

I frowned at him whilst asking, "what on earth are you doing here?"

"To take you to school of course!" Jason replied, as if I was stupid, which I obviously was...

"Oh, right. Well let me grab my stuff, I'll be right down in a second." I shouted as I raced up the wooden stairs and flung open the door to my room. Lying on the floor was a small crumpled up piece of paper, I quickly picked it up and was about to throw it away before I noticed writing on the back. I inspected the paper. The name 'Jenna Woodley' was scrawled on the back along with the words, 'I will never forget'. I turned it round, my frown getting deeper by the second. This paper was definitely not mine. But on the other side, a picture caught my eye. It was of a young boy standing next to a girl, presumably called Jenna. And the boy? I hadn't know that face for long, and some features had certainly changed, but I knew that boy now.

And he was standing right behind me.

"Are you..." Jason trailed off as he saw the small picture in my hand, a mixture of emotions flickered across his face like lightning, but one was clear. It was pain. I only noticed because I had gotten used to his smile and his happiness, but I saw the conflict in his eyes as they met mine, and he knew that I saw it. He knew.

•JASON'S POV•

"Are you..." I stopped. I don't think my mind had completely registered why I stopped talking, but my eyes had found a perfectly good reason to stop. A small piece of paper lay in Izzy's palm, I knew what it was immediately. I wish that I had never looked. I knew that when my emotions leaked through my poker face, Izzy would notice. I remembered the days at the beach, lying in the sand eating ice-creams, sitting on the swings at the park in the pouring rain just so that we could be alone. And then cuddling on my bed, whilst watching silly chick flicks and romance movies, even though I hated them. I remembered all of the times I had with her, with Jenna.
