Hi guys! Thank you all so much for the support already. Evie and Doug have always been my favorite couple on the Descendants, and I am so happy I get the opportunity to write about them. I hope I do it justice. If you guys have any suggestions on what I should write, go ahead and comment below or message me. I am always open to new ideas.
Doug had decided to get up and shower before the day started, while Evie just laid in bed a little longer. Before she knew Doug, she would never let any man see her in the state that she was in, no makeup, bed head and an old sweatshirt. She smiled from ear to ear as she thought about her first date with Doug, after she realized at the coronation that she definitely had feelings for this guy.
First Official Date Flashback
Doug had planned the whole thing, Evie was just supposed to show up dressed in something comfy. It was the day after the coronation, that at which Doug and Evie spent hours dancing and talking. The chemistry radiated between the two of them, and anyone could see it. Evie dressed herself in a dark blue and red short sleeve shirt, with some royal blue sweats. Her long blue hair was in a braid that swept to one side of her face, and she had minimal makeup on. At first, she was nervous to have Doug see her this way, but it was something that Carlos had said to her earlier that day. Evie had been freaking out over the date, and Carlos decided to sit her down, talk her out of doing anything too irrational.
"Evie, if Doug doesn't like you for the real you, the you without all the makeup, the clothes, and pretending to be perfect all the time, then honey, he isn't the one for you. If he is the one, he will take one look at you and be rendered speechless," Carlos said as he grabbed her hand.
Boy did his advice help her. Doug had told Evie that he would pick her up at six sharp. She looked over to the clock hanging on the wall-it read 5:57 PM. 'Just a few more minutes,' she thought to herself. She heard a small knock at the door and bolted towards it. She swung it open quickly, and saw Doug standing there for a bouquet of blue roses. She started to grin as he started to blush.
"These are for you, princess," he said as he handed her the flowers.
"Thank you, kind sir," she responded.
She ran back into the room to put the flowers in some water. Doug had no words, he just stared at the girl. Once Evie was all finished, she made her way back to the door, and grabbed her shoes.
Doug was completely red in the face as he spat out, "Evie, you look... wow."
Evie started to giggle as she took his arm. She turned to close the door, and they were off walking down the hall. They made small talk, asked how each others days went, and then they finally reached their destination- Doug's dorm room. He instructed Evie to close her eyes, and asked if she trusted him, to which she quickly nodded her head yes. Doug led her into a dimly lit room, and told her to open her eyes. He had constructed a fort out of blankets, and what looked to be hundreds of pillows. There were fairy lights strung throughout the room, with a laptop sitting on the floor right in front of the fort. Evie had never made a fort before, well, never this extravagant. She gave Doug a hug, and ran towards the fort. At the entrance she could see that he had popped her favorite kind of popcorn, ordered her favorite pepperoni pizza from the local shop, and had an array of chocolate just waiting to be eaten. She started to tear up. He had heard her, every time she shared something about her life, he cared enough to listen. Doug had crawled in after her, and notice she was crying.
"Hey, shh. Evie, don't cry. It's okay, what's wrong?" He slung his arm around her waist and pulled her to him.
"No one has ever done something like this for me. I don't know what to say," She managed to say.
"E, you don't have to say anything. I like you, I really like you. I wanted to do something special for you. I thought if you liked it, we could make it a more regular thing. A movie night, ya know?"
"Doug, I would love that so much."
She cuddled close to Doug as he started the movie. Honestly, they barely paid attention to what was playing on the screen. They talked the entire time, ate the food he had prepared, but most importantly this was the day Doug kissed her for the first time. Right as the end credits were rolling, Doug leaned down and said, "I hope this isn't too forward, but would it be okay if I kissed you?"
Evie nodded yes, and Doug slowly crashed his lips into hers. It was a very tender kiss, one filled with curiosity and wonder. When they broke away, Evie smiled, and Doug broke the silence. "I have wanted to do that since the very first minute I met you. I wouldn't mind kissing you for the rest of my life." Evie sat up and grabbed Doug's face, reciprocating those feelings. They've had movie nights once a week since then, and it is one of Evie's favorite traditions.
End of Flashback
Doug came out of the bathroom with a towel wrapped around his waist, Evie tried not to stare, but boy did she love that man. She giggled as he grabbed his clothes, leaned down to kiss his beautiful fiancée, and head back to get dressed. Evie was a bit flustered, cheeks completely red, as she thought to herself, 'oh the effect this boy has on me.'
