The next morning
Betty's POV

I woke up and it was three. I realized it was Sunday and asked myself why am I up so early? I put my phone down and turned and saw Veronica sleeping right next to me. I smiled and went back to sleep.

When I finally woke up again it was seven. I saw Veronica was still sleeping. I got up and went down- stairs to get something to eat. Instead I got destracted by my phone going off. It was Polly texting me.

Polly

Are you home? Or up at least?

Yea, why?

Well need inside and I left my key at the house.

And your mot knocking why?

I just got here. Now open the door.

**I went and opened the door. And there she was. "Hi. Sorry." She said and walked inside. "It's okay, but what did you need?" I asked. "I just needed to get something I'm going to the attic." "You always need something." I told her. "Yep." She said and walked off. I sighed and went to sit on the couch.

A few minutes later She came back down with a box. "That all you need?" I asked. "Yep!" She said. "Okay. Next time try going to a store and buy it yourself and not come here everyday." I yelled as she opened the door. "Nope!" She said and left. I laughed a little and looked back at my phone.

A few minutes later Veronica had come downstairs. "How long have you been up?" She asked. I slightly jumped not knowing she had come down. "Oh my god!" I said and stood up. "Sorry didn't mean to scare you." She said with a smile and came and sat next to me. I smiled at her. "Yea, it's fine." I told her. "How long have you been up?" She asked again. "About ten minutes." She nodded. "Oh okay." It was quiet for a bit. Neither of us knew what to talk about.

I got up to get a drink, but it wasn't water. I opened a cupboard and grabbed a glass cup and then opened another one and grabbed a bottle of whiskey. A few seconds later Veronica came in and saw me. "Isn't it a bit early for that?" She asked. I shrugged. "Well then it's to early I guess." I took a small drink and looked at her. "You want one?" I asked. She had a worried look on her face. "What's wrong ?" She asked walking over to me. I shook my head. "Nothing. Nothings wrong." I told her. "Then why are you day drinking?" "Is it a bad thing?" I asked. "No, but it's Sunday and we have school tomorrow." I sighed. "So?" "I don't need you to wake up with a hangover and we can't go to school." I sighed again. "I wouldn't be going to school, but you would be." Now she sighed. "Your upset and I wanna know why."

If I was honest I was a bit upset; and no, it's not because I will miss school. It's because... "My mom may be coming back this summer." I told her. "How.... how do you know?" She asked. "She called me the other day and told me that she's coming back and I think she may drag me out again." I said pouring me another cup. "She won't be able to do that." She told me. I mean she's right I am 18 and she can't tell me what to do anymore. "Yea, but she's my mother. She likes to tell me what to do and I don't think it matters if I can take care of myself or not." I told her. "I mean you can come stay with me." As she said this I reme- mbered her mom was leaving today. "Hey isn't your mom leaving today?" I asked. "Oh shit! Yes, she is, but we are not changing the subject now." I sighed. Damnit she doesn't give up. She's just like me. "I mean I think I'll stay here and if she comes I'm not going to let her do anything." I told her. I went to pour myself another drink, but she stopped me. "Good don't let her do anything." She said. I sighed as she took the cup out of my hand. "No, more." She said and put it in the sink. "You should go back to sleep." I shook my head a little. "No, I'm fine I don't need to." I told her, but I really needed to actually. "No, your going to." She said and started pulling me upstairs. "I'm fine, V." I said. She pulled me into my room and pushed me on the bed. "I don't want to go to sleep." I told her acting like a child. "Your eighteen not five." She told me. I smiled. "I think maybe I'm mentally a five year old." I laughed a little. She rolled her eyes. "So your slightly drunk." I shook my head. "I only had three right?" I asked. "See you don't remember it was two I didn't let you get a third." I rolled my eyes. "Okay whatever." I said and layed down. "Happy now?" I asked her. "Yes.' She said and covered me up. She started walking to the door. "V." She turned and looked at me. "Yes?" "Sty with me." I told her. She smiled and closed the door again. "Fine." She climbed in bed with me and covered up. I turned over and looked at her and smiled. "Hi." I said. She laughed. "Hi." It was quiet. "I can smell the alcohol in your breath." She said. I laughed a little. "Really?" I asked. She nodded. "Yes, I can." I started to kiss her. She kissed back, but a few seconds later She pulled away. "What?" I asked. "You need to sleep." She said and smiled. I started to complain again. "But it's eight o'clock in the morning I'm not tired!" She put a hand on my cheek. "I don't care you need it go to sleep." I sighed. "Fine!"
