~Lumine's POV~
I looked at Kody, frustrated. Why did he tell his dad? I never told Aiden when Kody got bullied."Are you feeling alright?" Aiden asked as we drove. "Yeah," I mumbled. "So Calla, huh?" Kody asked.
I said nothing and determinedly stared out the window. I felt a sharp flick on my cheek. I glared at Kody. "I was talking to you. What did Calla even do?" He asked.
I looked back at him in annoyance. "I told you. Magic," I said huffily. I felt something drop from my cheek, like blood. I touched it, looking at my hand.
Sure enough, it was spotted with blood. Wow. How much damage did that girl do to me? Kody pulled a little box of Band-aids from the pocket of the seat in front of him.
He pulled one out and carefully stuck it on my cut cheek. My cheeks felt really red. Kody quickly turned to the window, but I swear I saw him blush a bit.
"We're here," Aiden said. We got out of the car. We went to the front desk. Ew, the place smelled like hospital. I saw Kody scrunch up his nose too.
Aiden walked tight to the front desk. "Hello, I have a child here that injured his hand," he told the witch lady. "Okay. Name and date of birth?" She asked. "Erm...well, his name is Lumine...but I don't know his date of birth. I'm not his father," Aiden said uncomfortably.
"I see," the lady said, clicking letters on her keyboard. Kody was glaring at her. My wrist kept hurting.
"Uh...Lumine?" Kody asked, staring at me. "What?" I snapped. "Your face is all bloody," he said, pointing. "Oh, great," I grumbled, touching my cheek only to feel warm, sticky blood.
"Okay, guys. Let's go," Aiden said after he checked in. I was still trying to wipe the blood off my face with my hoodie sleeve. Luckily, it was black so it wouldn't show.
The reception desk lady led us to a room. "Dr. (Random name) will be here in minute," she said and closed the door behind her as she left.
A few minutes later a doctor in a white coat came in. "Hello, Lumine," He said. "We'll be outside," Aiden said and motioned for Kody to follow him. Kody opened his mouth as if to protest and then snapped it shut angrily, following him out.
"Okay, Lumine. Maybe we should start with your face. There's some deep cuts," the doctor said seriously. "O-okay," I agreed. Dr. (Insert name here) grabbed some gloves and some wipes.
He pulled the gloves on and took a wipe. "Can I take this band-aid off?" He asked. "Yeah," I replied. He gently ripped it off and took his cloth and gently wiped my face. I winced as he rubbed over one of my cuts.
"Oh, sorry," the doctor said. "I'll go easier." After like 10 minutes of just wiping my bloody face, he examined my face. "We probably need stitches and possibly staples," he murmured to himself. "W-What?!" I said anxiously.
"I-I'm fine!" "But those cuts are quite deep and I don't think they'll go away very easily," he said sympathetically. I my lip. "I'll need to inform your guardian," he said and got up. "I will be back." The door shut behind him. I stood up and looked in the mirror over the sink.
Oh. It did look bad. The doctor and Aiden came in. I jumped a bit, I didn't expect them to come in yet! Aiden's eyes widened when he saw me. "Who did this to you?!" He asked.
I didn't respond. I thought I told him Calla one too many times. "Lumine?" Aiden asked. "I tripped," I said. "I've heard that one before. I won't get angry, just tell me the truth," Aiden said gently.
"I-I did trip!" I said hastily. Aiden sighed and turned to the doctor and talked about the stitches and staples. A few minutes later they turned to me.
"I'm afraid I will have to do stitches and staples," the doctor said. My ears drooped.
After an hour of pain and agony~
Aiden and a very annoyed Lumine walked out of the office, Lumine's arm in a sling. Kody's eyes widened when he saw Lumine."L-Lumine! Are you alright?" Kody asked. "Yeah," Lumine mumbled. It was a long, quiet car ride home. Lumine went straight to his room.
Kody went to do his homework. Then he thought of something: Lumine was right-handed and he broke his right hand!
He face-palmed himself and ran downstairs to tell his dad. "Dad! Lumine's left-handed!" He said. Aiden smiled. "Don't worry! He can still use his hand even though it's in a cast," he said.
Are you serious? Kody thought. Disbelieving, he turned and walked back upstairs. He heard muffled crying from Lumine's room.
Kody knocked on his door. "Who is it?" Lumine said with a gulp. "It's me," Kody replied anxiously. "Can I come in?"
There was a long pause until the Lumine opened the door.
"What d-do you want?" He asked, sniffling. "I just...I heard you crying so I thought I'd check on you," Kody said. "Oh," Lumine said quietly. He wiped away his tears gently (without touching his fresh stitches and staples).
"Wanna talk?" Kody asked, sitting down on Lumine's bed. Lumine shrugged. "Not really..."
"I'm just worried for you, Lumine," Kody said, his expression turning serious."I know. I'm sorry I worried you," Lumine said, staring down at his hands.
He was shocked to find warm, comforting arms wrapping around him."K-Kody?" He stammered. "I'm always gonna be here for you, Lumine. Even when it feels like no one's on your side...I want you to know I always will," Kody said.
At the sweet, caring words Lumine's eyes sting with tears. He really wanted to cry, but he kept them in. "I'm glad you're my friend, Kody. I'm happy I got to meet you," he said.
This made Kody blush and pull Lumine tighter to him.
