~kody's pov~
i eyed my mother with hate and anger as she brought us our drinks. "enjoy," she said and left us to it. i felt my eyes tear up. damn it, the last thing i want lumine to see is me crying! "kody?" lumine said softly. i looked at him and forced a smile. "yeah?" lumine looked uncomfortable. "are you alright?" i looked at my lap for a while before saying, "no."

a/b: hey y'all! if you swiped to the right on the lumine pic above there's a song that kinda fits the chapter? you should play it while reading and i'm so sorry for what's next... :(

~at home~
~lumine's pov~
"kody?" i knocked on his door before opening it. "g-go away!" he sobbed. i saw my best friend (and boyfriend) laying on his bed, facing the wall. "o-okay...i'm here for you, though..." i closed his door. its my fault, i thought. i should've never taken him if he didn't feel comfortable. i let hot tears run down my cheeks. i let kody down. i took a deep breath and walked to the bathroom. i felt numb as i took my razor from the drawer. i closed the door and locked it. i pulled my sleeves up.

~kody's pov~
i knocked on lumine's door. "hey," i opened the door to find lumine reading harry potter. he glanced up and gave a small smile. "hi," he looked back to his book. "look, i'm sorry. i was just..surprised to see my mom there. i had no idea she was close by. i hope i didn't make you feel like it was your fault," i admitted and sat down next to lumine. he put his book down. "no, i shouldn't have taken you if it made you uncomfortable...to be honest, i never asked you where you wanted to go. i just knew you liked cats a lot," he said. i grinned. "yeah. but...i still feel really bad for yelling at you," said. "ugh, don't be, silly," lumine pulled me into a hug. the heat rose to my cheeks once again. "pfft! i guess we'll have to go on a better date next time," i joked. lumine smiled slightly. "guys? dinner!" dad called from downstairs. we rushed down, eager to eat.

*TRIGGER WARNING*

~3rd ~
they had ordered tacos from kody and lumine's favorite restaurant. aiden noticed lumine was trying to eat his taco, but his long sleeves were getting in the way. "lumine? wouldn't you like
to roll your sleeves up?" he said. lumine put his taco down. "uh..." he put his arms under the table and when he pulled them back up, they were only slightly pushed up. he picked up his taco and took a small bite. sherry and silver's eyes met aiden's suspiciously. lumine saw this, and put it back down. kody didn't seem to notice anything, as he took big bites of his second taco. lumine looked on the verge of tears and looked down at his lap. kody finally looked over at him and put his taco down. "lumine? are you gonna eat that? if you don't, i'll eat it," he said with a smirk. lumine's eyes were fixed determinedly at his lap and didn't say anything. "is...there something wrong, lumine? do you want to talk?" aiden asked worriedly. at this, lumine ran upstairs. "what happened?" kody said. "um...i'm not sure, but i'm going to go talk to him," aiden said, forcing a smile. "you can finish eating, and kody, clear the table." kody rolled his eyes. that was usually lumine's chore. silver and sherry stood up and walked upstairs. kody eyed them suspiciously. why's everyone leaving? there's a lot of food left!

~kody's pov~
i heard crying. it sounded like...lumine. i walked upstairs. there were my dad's employees standing outside lumine's room. "what happened?" i said. silver glanced at me sadly. "lumine...isn't feeling so well," he replied reluctantly. "huh?" i listened closely. "i know it was my fault!" i saw lumine and my dad sitting on his bed, dad comforting him. he rubbed his back and said, "of course it isn't. no one knew she would be there. don't get caught up on this, lumine. is there anything else you want to talk about?" lumine slowly released himself from aiden's hug. "w-well...will you hate me if i tell you?" lumine said nervously. his eyes were puffy and red. my dad's eyes widened. "no, of course not! we're all here for you, and i'm sure kody is too." i saw lumine's shaky hands reach for his sleeves. he was about to roll them up until he hugged himself slightly. wait, is this why he was so weird during dinner? he...broke our promise? this better not be true. "a-aiden..." lumine kind of pushed his sleeves up partially, revealing bandages with blood leaking through. "l-lumine..." dad stuttered. i can't believe he did this. "well...we need to check to make sure they're not too deep." i shook with sadness and betrayal. "lumine...why?!" i yelled. i ran to my room.

~lumine's pov~
i heard kody run to his room. "kody!" i shouted after. aiden looked at me sadly. he took me to the bathroom and slowly began to take the bandages off. i winced from the pain. "sorry, lumine...but...you didn't have to do this. no one's mad at you. okay?" aiden smiled at me. my heart dropped. it just made me feel...worse. i don't know why, i was more upset than reassured. i cringed as aiden took the last of the bandages off. i looked at my bloody, cut arms with hate and anger. i felt tears roll down my face. "lumine? what's the matter?" aiden asked softly. "i-i'm sorry!" i finally hugged him tightly, my vision blurry. i felt warm arms wrap around mine, hugging me tightly and reminding me what it's like to have a dad.

~kody's pov~
i glanced in the bathroom as lumine cried out, "i'm sorry!" i watched him as he hugged my dad in a tight embrace, and my dad hugging him equally as tight. i felt my heart break. i should never had made a big deal about seeing my mother in public. now lumine is all upset with himself. i blew up at him. i'm a terrible boyfriend.

a/n: sooooo i'm so sry for this but...the message i'm tryna spread is that ppl do love you, even if you don't believe it. cutting doesn't just stop automatically...maybe you'll have a few day streak of not doing it, but it's not so easy to just stop just like that if you've done it for a while. if you need to talk to someone, i'm here for you! :3
