i opened my eyes slowly. "lumine!" i followed the voice, which belonged to kody. he was hovered over me, his eyes red and puffy like he was crying. "what...happened?" i said groggily. "i don't know! you were literally lying in the hallway, bleeding all over the place." i wracked my brain a bit. what happened again? i remember being kicked...oh. "yeah...it's nothing, hehe," i reassured him. "it's not
nothing, dumbass! you literally broke four ribs!" kody argued angrily. i was dumbfound at this news. "really?" kody rolled his eyes in annoyance. "i cant stand you. but yeah," he muttered. i slowly tried to sit up until i felt a sharp pain in my chest. i gritted my teeth in pain. "don't!" kody said, his tone mixed with concern and irritation as he gently laid me back down. "you need to rest." "kody...what happened at school? why were people staring?" i had to ask. kody looked at his fingernails before turning away. "it's...nothing, lumine..." "why? it's not nothing," i argued. kody flashed me a dangerous glare. "and that's nothing?" he pointed to my chest. i turned light pink in frustration. "i...i ran into something, okay?" kody looked at disapprovingly. "mhm," he mumbled. i then glanced down at his sleeves that he had rolled up. his arms still had the bruises, but they seemed darker. kody turned bright red and tugged his sleeves.
~kody's pov~
i wished i could tell him, but he'd probably just freak out. i thought he already knew. i had so many questions like how did everyone just know? and where did these bruises come from? they don't even hurt, and now lumine thinks it's calla again. how the hell am i supposed to tell him it's a fricking mystery? he'll never believe that crap, gullible as he is.
