~Lumine's POV~
My cheeks were on fire. I can't believe Kody said he liked me. I saw his cheeks flush bright pink. "I-I...like you too," I said quietly.
He embraced me in a tight hug again. "I'm really sorry," he choked. "If you ever feel like you're alone, well...you can always talk to me. I feel that way too. I'm sorry I used to be so mean to you...I couldn't trust anyone, and...I didn't want to make friends because I know one day I'll have to lose them."
My eyes burned with tears. "Thank you, Kody," I told him sincerely. "I...Calla...started this when I came and...I'm not as strong as you. I don't know how to deal with her. I'm afraid," I admitted as a buried my face in his shoulder.
"I'm sorry I've been such an a**hole to you. Even when you've been by my side...I'm sorry, Lumine!" Kody sobbed. I bit my lip to stop more tears.
It didn't help though, as I got Kody's shoulder wet with tears. We cried into each other's arms for a good twenty minutes before we loosened our grip.
"Kody...I probably said this a million times, but I really want you to know that you're my best friend, my only friend...and I'd do anything to keep you! I really think you're great, and my life would be miserable without you. You understand me best, I can tell you things I can't tell others, and you believe and support me. That's what a friend does, right?" I said.
Kody blushes big time. "Yeah...I wouldn't be happy without you, either," he said. "But...we can deal with Calla! Don't let her get you down!" He grabbed my shoulders and looked into my eyes piercingly.
"Believe me...I know what this feels like...," he smiled a bit. This made my insides go all warm and fuzzy. I've never seen Kody smile before. Usually, he's all sad and mopey. He's so cute when he smiles...
"Lumine?" Kody snapped me out of my trance. "Huh?" I said, realizing I was staring at him. "Ah, sorry!"
"It's okay. Um, I was wondering...were you serious about liking me before?" He asked, blushing a bright red.
"Uh...kind of...but it's okay if you don't!" I added quickly. "N-no! I...like you too...I wasn't lying before...!"
I grinned really wide as Kody gripped me even tighter.
