5 years ago, Chloe Valentine approached Brooke Lohst with the offer of friendship. Brooke obviously accepted.

cos this might take a little more

They were as close as sisters until one Jeremy Heere came along and accidentally broke them up.

i think i'd like to try and look at you

They would barely even look at each other. See, Brooke was dating Jeremy and believed that Chloe made Jeremy cheat on her. Chloe was jealous that Brooke got to date Jeremy, and stayed away from her.

and feel the way i did before

They both wanted to fix their friendship, and here's how they did it.

oh, our fire died last winter

"Chloe? I need to talk to you. Right now." Brooke demanded one day. Chloe was shocked and agreed out of surprise.

all of the shouting blew it out

"Brooke, if you're going to shout at me, I want to have the first word." Chloe announced as they walked to the back of school. Brooke giggled and shook her head. She would never shout at Chloe.

you know i could live without or with you

"I want to apologize. Not only for dating Jerry without consulting you first, but also for being so cold towards you." Brooke starts. "I should've realized me and Jerry's relationship was toxic before the play."

but i might like having you about

"Oh, I'm sorry too, Brooke. For being cold towards you. I shouldn't've done what I did, but I thought I needed it. All I need now is my Brookie back." Chloe replies, tears welling up in her eyes.

yes, these new walls are pretty hard to crack

Brooke chokes out a sob and leaps forward to hug Chloe. Chloe promptly does the same.

and it might take a while until i trust you, won't attack

"We both know it'll never be the same, but we can try our best to be best friends again." Brooke mumbles into Chloe's shoulder. Chloe nods solemnly, wanting more than just friendship.

oh, i'd apologize but it was only self-defense

They stand there sobbing and hugging for a few minutes before pulling away and looking at each other.

running away just made sense

"Why do you look so sad, cupcake?" Chloe looked up at the nickname. Brooke was 'cookie' because it rhymes with Brookie, and Chloe was 'cupcake' before it's the only sweet treat they could think of.

but here i am with arms unfolding

"I just-I want more than friendship. I understand if you don't, and we just be fr-" Chloe starts in reply.

i guess it isn't quite the end

"You want to be my girlfriend?" Brooke whispers, wide eyed. Chloe nods and goes to walk away.

"Wait, cupcake."

Brooke grabs Chloe's wrist and pulls her back, the other hand on Chloe's waist. Brooke shakes her head and smirks

to fall in love with you again

"I want to be your girlfriend too, you idiot." Brooke says, leaning forward and planting a kiss on Chloe's lips. Chloe kisses back immediately having waited for this moment for years. They were finally happy. Chloe Valentine and Brooke Lohst were finally happy.
