Krissy rubbed her face against her pillow, clearing the tears from her face so she could see the screen of her tablet better. She sat up a little higher on her elbows as she looked down at her older sister's instagram as she scrolled thru pictures of the family she once had. Her sister had just had a baby and the whole family had come together to be there for her, even their dad.

She couldn't contact them. It wasn't safe. She'd done too much, seen too much, and it just wasn't possible anymore. It was funny because seeing her family had been the one thing keeping her going back then, especially after finding out Bryce hadn't been in love with her the way she had been in love with him. Just seeing her family again had been enough to make her get up and bite her tongue when it came to Maria. Her family was all she thought she had for awhile and the dream of seeing them again.

It wasn't possible then and it wasn't possible now.

Sliding thru a few more pictures, Krissy froze on one of her sister's pictures. It was titled out with friends. She recognized most of the women sitting around a table of fruity drinks as her sister's childhood friends but there was one she didn't recognize but for some reason the face was familiar. It took her a long time to figure out why but eventually it clicked. The girl from the photos Maria had showed her so long ago now. The girl Bryce had been in love with instead of her.

"Damn..." She whispered as she stared at the girl. Seeing her was just so unexpected, she honestly couldn't even tell you why.

"Krissy"

Krissy quickly clicked on a random picture of her sister and her boy friend before looking up at Bryce, removing the picture of the girl from the screen. He stood in the doorway and just stared at her. She sat up, pressing her back against her headboard as she stared down at her sister's smiling face instead of the man in her doorway.

She didn't bother to tell him he didn't knock, he never cared. Instead, she brought her knees up to her and balanced her tablet there as she continued to look down at the picture. She heard him make a noise with his mouth before he stepped into her room and shut the door behind him.

"Where's the shirt?"

She knew what he was talking about and subconsciously looked towards the bags sitting on the floor still unpacked. He stalked toward the bags as if the tension in the air wasn't bothering him at all. He searched thru a couple of them before he finally found the shirt.

He shrugged off his suit jacket before unbuttoning and removing the shirt underneath. With his shirt gone, she could see the scars on his back made from the whip Maria had used on him. The sight was nothing new to her but they still ate and tore her up inside. They were ugly and deep, torn skin destroyed flesh. She closed her eyes to block out the sight as a sob built up in her chest.

"It's... a little small..." She opened her eyes to see that his arms were about to burst from the shirt. He turned to look at her and smiled gently. "I guess I've gained a bit of weight, huh?" He laughed.

So he was going to ignore it then. Pretend he didn't treat her like a caged bird to be seen but not heard. His smile faded at the expression she was giving him. "Can you go?" She asked dryly.

He moved towards her still in that too little shirt. He stood over her. Sometimes she thinks he does it on purpose, to intimidate her. To assert some sort of dominance or whatever. "I'm trying to keep you safe, Krissy."

She looked down at the tablet in her lap with a frown. "That doesn't mean you have to snap at Tony like that or... treatment me like what I say doesn't matter. I get it, Bryce, you do a lot for me. You care about me. But p-"
