"Which do you think a one year old would like best, this," Krissy pointed to a very big bag of soft, numbered blocks, "or this," she held up another box that contained a talking, reading, and singing teddy bear. Shoura who she had asked opened his mouth to answer but she was already speaking quickly again. "Maybe I should have gotten something else. What if the bear makes him cry! She held the toy up to her face. "I think this would scare the hell out of me when I was a toddler. Why did they make his eyes so creepy?"
Shoura rolled his eyes at her. "He'll probably be more interested in the wrapping paper...if you ever hand the stuff over so I can wrap it, that is." He pointed a roll of shiny blue wrapping paper at her. "Come on, I don't have all day."
She pushed the toys over to where he sat on the floor a few feet away from her, and he grabbed them up. "You do have all day, Shoura." She huffed. "I make your schedules remember? You're not going to do shit but binge watching Dawson's Creek...again." She fought to keep her face straight as she thought about Shoura's favorite television show. She ended up snickering anyway. "How old are you again?"
Shoura but shot her a careless smile and shrug. "Old enough to know a good show when I see one, while I can still see one. Besides, my show tastes isn't even the issue here. What is the issue, is your terrible wrapping abilities, I'm half blind and I still wrap circles around you. As a result, I am burdened by having to wrap all of your gifts for you even the ones for me! You should be kissing the ground I walk on and throwing out words of gratitude." He had already finished wrapping the teddy bear.
Krissy rolled her eyes. "I won't be kissing the ground, but will a simple thank you suffice?"
"No!" he denied shrilly, making her roll her eyes. "But... if you lay one right here," he turned his head and tapped his cheek, "I think that will suffice."
Krissy rolled her eyes but bit her lip briefly before scooting closer to the man and placing a quick kiss to his cheek. He shot her a quick grin while she looked away. "So childish... Don't say I've never given you anything." She mumbled.
She was forced to look at Shoura again when she felt him brush her recently pressed hair over her shoulder. She swallowed thickly and her pulse raced at the look he was giving. The slight smile and the intensity and focus in his eyes that just wasn't there much anymore because of his inevitable blindness.
He didn't say anything before he leaned in for a real proper kiss, and their lips met. Krissy liked kissing Shoura. His kisses made her forehead buzz and her blood rush. His kisses were always lingering and slow, like he was savoring and memorizing each one.
They kissed a lot after she agreed to 'be with' Shoura after the conversation a few months back. Shoura liked to kiss and she liked to kiss Shoura. They had only gone further than that once, and that had been just the night before.
It had just happened. She wasn't sure how to feel about it with the light of day.
When the kiss ended, Krissy quickly looked down to avoid eye contact, hair falling into her face. She mentally cursed herself for being so...shy. She and Shoura had been together for months and she she hadn't gotten over the odd way he made her feel. She couldn't describe it.
"When you do you think you'll be back?" He questioned lightly, his hand caressing her face, his thumb trailing over her cheekbone.
She shrugged and glanced up at him, to see him smiling an amused smile at her. She rolled her eyes and cleared her throat, which seemed to make him smile harder. "I don't know. Not too late, how long can a one year old's birthday party go on for?"
