Chapter summary: The reader proposes to hayley during a cute picnic date!
requested by @thebabeisback

- 'I can't believe you don't recognise this place!' You gasped dramatically, taken aback by your long-term girlfriend's apparent unfamiliarity with the area.
'I didn't say that! I know, I've been here before, it just looks different now.' She responded, giggling to herself as her grip on your hand grew tighter.
- she swung them back and forth, contently as the pair of you walked happily through the peaceful neighbourhood park.
- you knew this place like the back of your hand.
- the ever winding paths and the secret trails that lead deep into the woodland reminding you of the many memories you'd had here.
- all the while, making you feel even more ecstatic about the ones you were hoping to create with hayley today.
- with the flowers in bloom and the trees full of luscious green leaves; it couldn't look more beautiful.
- the summer sun beamed down in full force upon you both, yet the light breeze that seemed to linger made it bearable.
- 'That's understandable, this place is extremely well loved.' You explained cheerfully, letting go of hayley's hand to wrap your arm around her shoulder instead.
- her arm dropping to grasp at your waist, resting her head at your shoulder.
'They're always planting new trees, creating more ponds and incorporating play areas for the local kids.'
- 'That's amazing.' Hayley commented briefly, smiling widely as you gestured for her to follow you into a more shaded area.
'But I must admit, the cherry blossoms have gotta be my favourite.' You replied, before guiding hayley towards a large; fully flourished cherry blossom tree.
'Oh my gosh!' She suddenly blurted out, the dots connecting in her head. 'I know this spot!'
- 'Yeah?' You prompted, raising your brows as you watched her dash over to the tree.
- looking up into the candy floss like flowers, before turning back to you; hand resting against the trunk.
- 'We had our first ever date here, remember? Like what, almost 5 years ago now?!'
- 'There you go!' You grinned, approaching her with deep love evident in your eyes.
- she let you in close to her, tickling just above your elbows with her fingertips as she accepted the light kiss you pressed to her lips.
- 'And, look at us now...' You gushed, looking lovingly into hayley's eyes; witnessing her blush a little.
- '...still all loved up, like just teenagers.'
- 'Do I still give you butterflies?' Hayley asked, tracing her thumbs down from your temples then along your jawline.
- 'Every. Single. Day.' You mused, emphasising each word with a sweet kiss.
- 'Hmmm, whatever you say.' She responded, smirking at you briefly, before wrapping you up in her embrace.
- 'Come on, you're just being mushy now!' Hayley laughed, booping your nose playfully with her index finger.
- 'Okay, okay.' You surrendered, willingly. 'Let's eat, I'm starving!' You announced, slipping the backpack from your shoulders; eager to unpack your ready made picnic.

- you begun with laying down the blanket, hayley taking one side; as you took the other.
- the pair of you settling on top of it quickly, before beginning to spread out all of your desired food items.
- you watched hayley as she ruffled with her hair purposefully, in anticipation of tying it up into a neat ponytail.
- despite being entirely surrounded by the wonders of nature she was still your favourite sight.
- you caught her taking a peak at you out of the corner of her eye, sticking her tongue out ever so cutely in response.
- causing you to giggle softly; as you felt your hand drift subconsciously into your pants pocket, toying with the small box you had hidden there.
- but, it wasn't time just yet.
- you wanted to enjoy the present moment for just that little bit longer.
- 'Sandwich?' Hayley soon prompted, snapping you out of your ever wandering thoughts and encouraging you to look her way.
- which you did, accepting the food she offered to you with a gentle smile.
- 'I'm so glad we came back here.' She admired, taking a sip of her fresh lemonade through a red and white striped straw.
- 'Me too.' You agreed quickly, before clearing your throat in an attempt to ground yourself.
- 'Seeing as we're back in my hometown for the weekend, I wanted to bring you.'
- hayley nodded eagerly in agreement, as she reached over to pick out a sandwich for herself.
- 'I think it's one of my favourite places.' You stated, taking a moment to think before continuing to speak.
- 'We've traveled so much over the past few years, you know? And, seen so many beautiful places.'
- 'But, this park just brings me peace. I love being here with you. I love my life with you, Hayles.' You found yourself unexpectedly gushing away.
- hayley's features softening; as the corners of her mouth perked up into a wide, genuine grin.
- 'Awwwh, baby.' She cooed, overcome by the love in your words.
- 'You're my absolute world, you know that?' She commented sweetly, shuffling closer to you; brushing her thumb gently along atop of your hand.
- before, planting a long and honest kiss to your lips in an act of affirmation.
- you couldn't help but exhale into her, cherishing in her taste.
- you wanted her by your side for life and now you felt like it was just the right time to make that official.
- 'I really do want to spend my life you with you.' You explained purposefully, reaching into your pocket as you witnessed her sit back down cross-legged on the blanket.
- 'So, do I-' She was about to continue, but she was stopped mid-sentence; just as she was about to take a bite of her sandwich.
- you felt your body simply slip right into position, without any hesitation.
- you knelt down on one knee, proudly opening the box to present a gorgeous diamond engagement ring to the love of your love.
- 'Oh my god.' You heard her whisper quietly, slowing raising to her feet; hands rushing to cover her mouth as she gasped.
- her face was an absolute picture, she was completely doe eyed.
- practically stunned, in utter shock.
- 'Hayley, will you marry?' You asked her, probably the most important question you'd posed to anyone in your life.
- 'Y/N-I. OH MY LORD, YOU CAN'T BE-' You watched her eyes well up with tears, as she stumbled over her words; her emotions in a complete whirlwind.
- she reached out intently to take a closer look at the ring, and as she did so a bright blue butterfly landed delicately on top of the box.
- it was simply picturesque.
- you couldn't believe your eyes as you peered up at the stunning woman above you, your smile uncontrollable.
- 'I think that's a sign.' Hayley announced, letting out a small laugh in disbelief at how perfect everything had fell into place; it was like some kind of fairy tail.
- 'So, that's a yes?' You encouraged her, letting her take ahold of your hand tightly as she cried.
- 'Of course!' She enthused, in between a flood of overwhelmingly happy tears. 'Of course, it's a yes!'
- you were overrun with feelings, absolutely over the moon; you'd never found yourself this happy before.
- 'Here you go, my love.' You exhaled deeply, bringing yourself to your feet to slip the ring onto hayley's finger.
- 'We're getting married?!' Hayley questioned with the greatest excitement; taking a look at the sparkling ring on her finger before raising her eyes up to you.
- 'Kinda looks like it, huh?' You joked, yet just as ecstatic as she she was.
- hayley laughed joyfully in response, following that up with a high pitched squeal as you picked her up out of nowhere.
- spinning her around on the spot, as excitable as puppies.
- 'So, what's the first thing you wanna do as a newly engaged couple?' You proposed, to your fiancé; brining her feet firmly back to the ground.
- 'Finish our picnic and talk wedding plans?' Hayley suggested cheekily, scrunching her nose cutely as she did so.
- 'That eager?' You smirked back, pressing a quick kiss to hayley's now lovely decorated left hand.
- 'Fiancé has a nice ring to it, for sure. But, I just can't wait to call you my wife.' She purred, into your ear; as you wrapped your arms around her waist, tugging her in close.
- 'Damn, do I second that.' You replied, bearing the biggest grin - before leaning into her for your first official kiss as fiancés.
