[I'd love to see one where she comes from the studio really frustrated and sad and the reader does something to calm her down or something like that!!]

- It felt rather strange, entering into hayley's apartment without her following closely behind you.
- she had given you a key after all, so you weren't exactly intruding.
- some people might say six months is only a short space of time; which is is to some extent, but you felt like you'd spent a lifetime with hayley.
- and at this point, you practically lived at her apartment - even though your own was entirely furnished, homely and functional.
- you just found yourself wanting to be with her all the time.
- whether that meant crashing at hers after a long shift at work, or driving there in the early hours of the morning; when she can't sleep and wants you to hold her.
- whenever she needed you, you'd be there.
- regardless of how long you'd known each other, she was your everything.
- all you thought about each second of everyday and you'd never felt that way before about anyone.
- this day was practically different, a unfamiliar silence settling in the room as you slumped down onto hayley's couch.
- you let out a deep sigh as your eyes trailed across your surroundings; glancing at your phone hopefully.
- yet there was still nothing from hayley, you knew she was at the studio and you guys had plans of a cosy night in later tonight.
- there was nothing better than cuddling up together, watching a dumb movie and ordering take out - indulging in each other's company.
- but you'd been let off work early, an afternoon off really was a rarity in your line of work.
- so, of course you jumped at the opportunity to surprise your girlfriend.
- you didn't want to bother her though, she was technically working too; on something extremely necessary and important for her.
- seeing as you didn't know when she'd be back, all you could do now was wait - patience a virtue or so they say.
- after a short period of flicking through monotonous daytime television, you found yourself becoming restless.
- turning off the tv and raising to your feet with an exasperated huff.
- you decided to take a chance and dial hayley's number; it had only been an hour or so since you arrived at her apartment but she mustn't be far off finishing.
- your tepid anticipation and optimism flopping when it rang straight to answer phone.
- 'Come on, Hayles.' You mumbled under your breath, hoping that if you spoke the possibility into existence she would suddenly appear.
- your phone hit the well worn material of the couch harshly as you flung it down; your feet beginning to wander aimlessly towards the bathroom.
- but, before you'd even had chance to close the door firmly behind you - the light fumbling of keys rang in your ears.
- you heard it push into the lock and twist, a louder sound soon following as the front door was forcefully pushed open.
- it was genius, of course you'd locked the door behind you; it was impossible for her to suspect anything at all.
- although, what you were about to hear definitely wasn't what you were anticipating.
- as you tiptoed slow and carefully from your apparent hiding spot.
- you heard her breathing hitch, then clench before continuing to exhale sharply; your heart beginning to sink at the reality.
- she was crying, sobbing in fact and you felt helpless as you finally laid eyes on her.
- hands gripping tightly to the kitchen counter, as she let out her emotions verbally - salt water dripping onto the marble.
- you were conflicted, unsure of exactly what do to; as of yet, with her back to you she was completely unaware that you were even here at all.
- let her ride it out, you thought to yourself; not wanting to interfere and get a negative reaction.
- you didn't want her to become angry that you were here, somewhat invading her space in this current moment of vulnerability.
- that thought lingered for a while, but the better part of me couldn't do that you told yourself as your feet carried you towards her quivering frame.
- 'Sweetheart?' You called out, approaching her cautiously with worry and the utmost care behind your actions as you brought your fingertips up to graze her elbow - coaxing her round to look at you.
- 'Shit.' She cursed; jumping harshly at your touch, you'd obviously taken her by surprise.
- you watched her turn around quickly with haste, swiping frantically at her tears.
- silently hoping and praying that you hadn't just seen all of it.
- 'I-I didn't think you'd be here,' She stuttered out, slapping on a smile as she reached out to you but you could tell she was faking it. 'shouldn't you be at work?'
- 'They let me off early,' You explained, offering her a gentle smile while intwining your fingers with her own. 'I came to surprise you.'
- 'That's the sweetest thing.' She let out lowly, bringing her palm up to cup your cheek lovingly; desperately trying to avert your attention from the visible redness around her eyes.
- 'What is it?' You asked her calmly, trying to catch her averting eye contact as you placed your own palm atop of hers. 'What's wrong, H?'
- 'I swear, it's- it's nothing...' She lied, sniffling a few times as she bypassed you; distancing herself from your touch - wiping her nose quickly with the back of her hand. '...seriously.'
- you spun round, following her hurried steps as she walked away from you with urgency.
- her body soon collapsing down onto one of her dining room chairs, she clearly didn't want to be having this conversation.
- 'Did something happen at the studio?' You prompted her to explain, sitting down close to her - placing your hand onto her knee in an attempt to comfort her.
- 'I, ugh...' Hayley seemed to groan out at the question, her frustration evident; as she dragged her fingers through her hair before swiftly tucking it behind her ears. '...things just aren't coming together like I thought they would.'
- 'I had a vision, you know?' She whispered at first, before her voice grew louder - as her pupils first fell to the wooden table beneath her elbows then returning back to you. 'For how the writing process would go.'
- 'Go on.' You tempted, sensing that she was still holding back.
- 'But, none of it's playing out right.' She admitted, her sadness apparent as she let her head fall heavily into her hands.
- 'I feel so pathetic.' She let out with a self deprecating laugh, her eyes shooting you a quick glance before looking away again. 'I'm a songwriter, it's what a do...'
- 'but, it seems when I really need to express my feelings, I can't.' She sighed, completely defeated from the unwarranted struggle of the past few hours.
- 'It's a process though, right?' You sparked the question; an optimistic grin spreading across your lips. 'These things take time, they can't be rushed.'
- 'That's what makes them true, real and authentic.' You assured her, witnessing her mouth fall open slightly - her eyes beginning to regain their colour at long last.
- 'Like all of your songs, Hayles. Time is taken and care is given to achieve the best result.' You continued, her skin flushing a light shade of pink as small grin began to temp her expression.
- 'Maybe you should just let things linger for a while; let them settle, then try again.' You finished, watching your girlfriend move in closer - as a single tear trickling down her left cheek.
- 'Shit no, I didn't mean to make you-' You tried to emphasise; but you were soon cut off, hayley's lips pressing firmly against her own as her mouth opening willingly to let you inside.
- 'Thank you,' She slipped out lowly between your breathy kisses. 'I'll give that a try.'
- 'Good.' You confirmed, a little breathless as you pulled away.
- 'What now then?' Hayley asked, despite bearing a wide grin you could still see the gloom and disappointment that flickered behind her eyes.
- 'How about...' You thought on it seriously for a moment, wanting to provide her with a gesture to show just how much you care.
- '...I cook us some dinner?' Posing it as a question, slightly unsure of what just came out of your lips yourself.
- 'You cook dinner,' Hayley scoffed; a soft giggle escaping from the back of her throat. 'seriously?' even if it was at your expense you were just so gratefully to hear that glorious sound.
- 'You don't seem to have much faith in me!' You gasped, swatting playfully at hayley's arm as her giggles grew louder.
- you must admit, you definitely weren't the best cook in the world - hence why you weren't making your girlfriend dinner every night.
- but you were willing to try, even if it did happen to turn into a total disaster.
- 'I'm just saying,' Hayley smirked, holding her hands up innocently. 'I'm usually the one who cooks here.'
- 'I know, I know.' You continued to praise her, jumping up from your seat to circulate behind her; your hands gripping onto her shoulders lovingly.
- 'And you're simply amazing, but at least let me try?' You whispered into her ear, placing a gentle kiss to her cheek in an attempt to convince her into agreement.
- 'Okaaay, fine.' She rang out with a laugh, squeezing your knuckles sweetly with both hands - accepting your pampering of soft kisses in celebration.
- 'YES!' You enthused, appreciating her warm smile as she got up from her seat; letting out a big stretch - the tension in her limbs finally beginning to settle.
- 'In that case then,' She started, unzipping her boots and kicking them off expertly. 'I'm gonna take a shower.'
- 'And, I'll head to the store then.' You beamed, accepting the quick peck hayley popped to your pink lips before picking up your car keys and striding out the door with purpose.
•
- 'What in the hell?' You gawked, your pupils intensely staring down at your phone screen as you tried to decipher hayley's favourite tortellini recipe.
- you had all of the ingredients laid out in front of you so essentially this was entirely achievable. (if you were actually any good at cooking of course)
- but their excessive use of culinary terminology was beginning to boggle your brain.
- your girlfriend could probably do this with her eyes closed and that thought was making you sweat.
- your desire to impress extremely prominent.
- just like she'd been overhearing your internal monologue hayley was soon taking small steps towards you.
- 'Boo!' She whisper- yelled lowly, poking you devilishly at the ribs with a cheeky grin painted on her lips.
- 'How you doing?' She practically sung, leaning her elbow down onto the counter while casually resting her chin in her palm. 'You look very... serious?'
- she let out with a wink, clearly picking up on your overly stressed state.
- 'I'm concentrating.' You retorted, side-eyeing her briefly with a tiny smirk.
- 'Right.' She said, sucking in air sharply as she moved closer to you; her damp hair darkening the material of the oversized t-shirt she wore.
- 'You ready to give up yet?' She promoted, tucking a strand of your hair behind your ear as she watched your body twitch nervously.
- 'No. Well, I mean I-' You were about to try and argue but by the overwhelmed look on your face hayley knew you were surely going to cave any second.
- 'I've got our favourite takeout restaurant's number on speed dial.' She grinned, slipping your own device out from your hands.
- 'Come on, you know you want tooo!' Hayley continued, ringing out her words; her techniques of persuasion very convincing.
- 'Okay, okay. Even though I never even got started.' You surrendered, holding your hands up willingly. 'I give up, I want takeout.'
- 'I think you always wanted takeout.' Hayley laughed loudly, wrapping her arms around your slender form.
- 'I did.' You admitted, letting out a soft giggle as your pressed a kiss to her hairline. 'I want you to show me though.'
- 'I eventually do want to be able to make you dinner.' You stated, peering down at hayley as she contemplated your proposal.
- 'Deal,' She agreed simply, taking you by the hand and leading you over to the coach. 'I'll show you tomorrow.'
- 'Awesome.' You replied, allowing hayley to sit comfortably in your lap; as you embraced her warmly, caressing your hand slowly across her bare legs.
- 'Now, the real question is...' You began, smiling to yourself as hayley's sparkling green eyes made their way to you. 'Chick flick or cringy romcom?'
- 'As along as I'm with you, I don't care.' Hayley whispered, leaving a gentle peck to your cheek as you turned on the tv.
- her phone pressing against her ear, promptly whilst she dialled the takeout number.
- you rolled your eyes sarcastically at hayley's avoidance to your actual question, which caused her to let out a shallow gasp.
- in reality, she knew her sweet comments never failed to make your heart flutter madly.
- 'Romcom?' Hayley let out quietly with a little scrunch of her nose, as she smiled with her teeth.
- 'You got it, baby.' You commented, lowering your tone as hayley began to order your food whilst continuing to silently point out which movie she wanted to watch.
- right now; life couldn't get anymore perfect, with hayley in your arms you felt diamond rich.
- without even knowing it at first the experience of seeing hayley in such a sensitive state, enabled you to become closer.
- in friendship and as a romantic couple, your trust growing stronger by the second.
- you wanted to continue to be the one that was there for her, during the highs and the lows.
- by her side, for eternity.——————
