Alexis didn't wake up until later that afternoon when she heard yelling in the main room.
"Where the hell is the remote?!" She heard the familiar voice of Casey flood the apartment, knowing he was the only one with a spare key, even though her mother had no idea she gave it to him.
Alexis rolled over in her queen sized bed and saw the clock on the small bookshelf next to her bed that read 1:47 and she groaned rolling onto her stomach and shoving her face into her favorite blanket. She heard her door swing open and she rolled her eyes at Casey for not even attempting to have manners.
"Leeeex," Casey droned out, making Alexis turn onto her back and shoot a glare at him.
"Why the hell aren't you in school, kid?" She rubbed the sleep out of her eyes and he jumped onto the bed next to her.
"Because it's Thursday and I cannot listen to Mr. James talk for almost two hours," He complained. Alexis sighed, knowing how brutal it was to sit through one of Mr. James' lectures on block days. He was one of the nicest teachers at Marion County High School, but he was so old and his voice was so monotonous that it would make even the best students fall asleep during class.
"So why did you feel the need to show up at my house instead of just going home?" Alexis asked, her eyes still closed as she struggled to stay awake.
Casey sighed, "Yeah, it would go over so well to show up at my house two hours before school gets out without an explanation," he said, sarcastically.
"I'm not your damn babysitter, and I feel like shit," Alexis whined.
Casey was one of the few people that actually knew the full details of her situation. Not even her teachers really knew - they just gave her extra time to complete assignments and make up tests, among other accomodations she had with the school.
Alexis rolled over halfway where she was leaning up against Casey's side and he threw his arm around her protectively. The two had no relationship other than best friends, practically brother and sister. He was protective of her and she watched over him. They had each other's backs and no one questioned it. Their relationship was and always had been strictly platonic and they were okay with that because they would never want to ruin the bond that they had.
"You know you really need to get up," Casey mumbled against her hair and she groaned, snuggling further into his side. She felt his chest vibrate as he chuckled, but made no effort to move and Alexis appreciated that. She knew Casey would want to sleep after being at school anyway, so she closed her eyes ready to fall back asleep when she felt Casey squeeze her in a hug and they both fell asleep, cuddled together on her bed.

"Please Caseyy?" Alexis begged, folding her hands and dropping to her knees for good measure.
"Unless you're gonna suck me off then get off your knees," Casey laughed, even though they both knew he wasn't joking. Casey was one horny 16 year old.
"If it means you going with me..." Alexis mumbled, although Casey knew she was just trying to bribe him into walking to the book store with her.
He sighed, melodramatically as Alexis looked at him with hope in her eyes, "It's such a far walk," He tried to come up with an excuse but Alexis rolled her eyes, knowing he wasn't getting out of this.
"It's a quarter of a mile, come on," Alexis complained and Casey grumbled in annoyance before grabbing her arm and pulling Alexis out the door as she cheered.
They made the short walk to Barnes and Noble and Alexis joyfully skipped through the door in delight.
If anything could make her feel better, it was books.
She wandered over to the Teen Romance section and her eyes scanned over the dozens of selections. Although she owned most of the options in the section, Alexis always found something new to read. She picked up a story called Just One Day by Gayle Forman. Although Alexis didn't enjoy her If I Stay novel, she still decided that this would be a good read and tucked it under her arm before skipping over to the music selection in the store.
She knew Casey would be over here and she spotted him talking to a worker. When she approached them, she recognized the worker immediately and rolled her eyes.
"You work at Barnes and Noble?" Alexis spat with distaste as the tall, blond boy turned toward her with a smirk.
"How's it goin', munchkin?"
Alexis cringed at the nickname, but said nothing before turning to Casey who had a look of amusement on his face. She raised her eyebrows at him, as if saying "why the hell are you talking to this fucktard" and Casey chuckled.
"You two should really just fuck and get it over with," The boy smirked, while Alexis kicked Casey in the shin and he curled over in pain.
"Well, if we're gonna fuck, you should at least know my name. As much as I love the insults - and don't get me wrong, I do. It's hot - it wouldn't be very appealing to hear 'asswipe" in bed," He said, the crooked smile never leaving his lips, "I'm Luke," He extended his hand for Alexis to shake.
She merely rolled her eyes and flipped her hair over her shoulder, "I'm not interested."
"Ouch, you really know how to bruise a man's ego."
"Alexis, play nice, Luke has joined my baseball team," Casey smirked, no longer nursing his now bruised leg.
Alexis couldn't even hold back the laugh at Casey's words as she looked Luke up ad down. Luke couldn't lie, he was intimidated - not that he would ever admit that to anyone - but it was hot the way she was so confident and forceful. Not only was he intimidated, but extremely turned on.
"You? Play baseball? That's singlehandedly the funniest thing I've heard all week," She grinned and Luke felt slightly offended.
"Think what you want, munchkin, but these legs aren't just for looks. I'm probably the best first baseman your school has seen in years," He stated, regaining his confidence. He would do anything to see Alexis worked up.
"Yeah, all right, kid. I'll believe that when I see it. If you're really that good, then you'll be starting at the game on Thursday, right? And I'll be in the stands," She said defiantly, taking a step closer to Luke.
"It's cute that you're already showing up to my games, you're like a little groupie," Luke smirked.
They were now almost chest to chest, Alexis had to look up to stare Luke down, while he was quite literally looking down at her.
"It's a shame you're not my type, I don't date fuck boys," Alexis sneered, before turning on her heel and walking away, leaving Luke a little more than flustered.
