"So what exactly is your plan?" Alexis asked, shuffling over to sit on the floor in front of her couch, watching Luke kneel in front of her television.
"I'm here to entertain you, duh," He stated obviously, rifling through the movies that were stored in the entertainment center.
Between Luke, Sydney, and Ashton, Alexis had been suffocating for the past week. Casey hadn't even bothered to call, and all Alexis wanted to do was hide under her comforter and cry, but her three friends refused to let her wallow.
"You really don't have to. You guys have been on Alex watch all week, I'm not going to do anything rash while you're gone," She complained, cuddling up to the teddy bear that Casey had gotten her for Christmas.
"I have no idea what you're talking about, I just want to spend time with you," Luke shrugged. It wasn't a total lie. He did want to spend time with her, especially since he felt as though she was always with her boyfriend. He wanted some alone time with Alexis, and he was worried about her.
"Can we watch Stick It?" She spoke up, wanting to get her mind off of Casey.
"Stick It? Isn't that a chick flick?" Luke scrunched up his nose in disgust and Alexis scoffed.
"No! It's a comedy and besides, if you don't like the movie, you'll love the music," She bribed and Luke groaned, finding the movie and putting it in the DVD player, crawling over to sit next to her.
"WAIT!" Luke suddenly yelled, unnecessarily loud.
"Jesus, Luke, what?" Alexis spat, holding her ear as if he had caused her physical pain.
"Let's make a fort!" He exclaimed like a child on Christmas.
Fifteen minutes later, Luke had most of the blankets in Alexis' house surrounding them. He hung a sheet over their heads that draped over the television, and was being held in place by a set of old computer speakers dangerously placed on top. The floor was covered in two comforters, seven pillows, and three stuffed animals - it was safe to say that the pair were very comfortable underneath it all.
"Okay, now we can start the movie."
Through the entire movie, Luke wouldn't stop making comments. He liked to do that, and Alexis had gotten used to it, although she was incredibly annoyed with him interrupting her favorite movie. Unfortunately, she couldn't say anything because she had been quoting her favorite lines as well.
Her favorite part, though, was listening to Luke's comments on the music in the movie:
"are they even speaking English?"
"Holy shit is that Green Day?"
"THIS IS MY JAM!"
"They're playing Blink in an actual movie. I'm in love."
It was extremely amusing for Alexis to listen to him fangirl, and she couldn't wait to tell him "I told you so," when the movie was over. She knew he wouldn't be complaining about watching a "chick flick" for long.
When the movie ended and the credits rolled (Luke made a comment about the final song as well), Alexis sat up and turned towards him, noticing his excited expression.
"So? What's the verdict?" She asked, already knowing his answer.
"I'll admit, it was pretty sick."
"'Isn't that like a total chick flick'" Alexis mocked in an unrealistically deep voice.
"Yeah, yeah, you were right," Luke rolled his eyes with a smile on his face.
Alexis' eyes widened and she mocked surprise, "Excuse me? Wait, let me get my camera. Can you say that again?" She joked, pulling out her phone, pretending to record him. Luke looked at the camera, making a number of weird faces and Alexis giggled while repeatedly tapping the capture button. He finally reached over and tried to grab her phone from her hands, but Alexis held tight, curling into a ball and holding her phone underneath her, her laughter never ceasing.
"You know I can still get your phone, right?"
"Nooo," Alexis giggled again, "you can't!" Luke rolled his eyes.
"You're, like, a hundred pounds," He chuckled, reaching underneath her and picking her up.
"Wait, Luke!" Alexis called, but it was too late. Luke had completely forgotten about the sheet that hung over their heads, and when he stood up he tore down their "fort", the computer speakers crashing to the floor. They both froze, Alexis still awkwardly hanging over Luke's shoulder, before Alexis burst into laughter. It didn't take long for Luke to follow her actions, dropping Alexis onto the couch and falling on top of her.
The two were in hysterics when Alexis used her feet to push Luke off of her. He stood up, looking down at her.
Luke couldn't help but stare. He had always thought Alexis was attractive, hot even. But as he observed the girl - her hair in a ponytail that was falling out, pieces straying wildly from her hair, clad in only a tank top and a pair of spandex shorts with no make up on, dark circles under her eyes but her lips parted slightly in a wicked smile - Luke knew she was truly beautiful. She was the kind of beautiful that Luke wished to see every morning when he woke up. He wanted to make her breakfast and dance with her and shower with her. He wanted to protect her and he wanted to be the man that she trusted.
Alexis gazed at him, confused but his expression, "What?"
Luke shook his head, a grin painting his face, "You're my best friend," he whispered honestly.
That was when Luke knew.
He was in love.
