"You've got to be freaking kidding me," Alexis groaned as she watched the one and only Luke Hemmings strut into her fourth period precalculus class with his head held high. He shot a wink her way and walked up to the teacher's desk.

"Hi, Mrs. Taylor, I just got switched into this period?" He smiled politely and she reciprocated his action.

"Great! Michael's partner isn't here today, so why don't you sit next to him for now?" Luke nodded, fighting back his grin at the luck he had to be sitting next to his best friend.

He passed Kailynn Smith on the way to his seat and she sent him a flirty smile, twirling her hair around her finger. Kailynn was one of those girls that was really nice, but really slutty. Luke sent her a small wave, just to humor her and made his way to the back of the classroom.

He took his seat next to the green haired boy, slinging his backpack off his shoulder and carelessly tossing it onto the ground next to his feet. As soon as he sat down, he felt something light hit the back of his head. When he turned around, he saw a crumpled piece of paper on the ground and a playful smile on Alexis' lips - who happened to sit kitty corner to his seat. She nodded towards the paper and he quickly turned to make sure the teacher was still occupied with her computer, which she was, and picked up the note. Luke quietly pulled open the paper, a nosy Michael looking over his shoulder in hopes of seeing a dirty note written on it, and let a light laugh escape his lips.

How the hell are u in precalc dumb shit

Luke shook his head and pulled his only pencil out of the breast pocket on his flannel and messily scribbled his response on the paper.

im a fucking genius u asshat

He neatly folded the paper and threw it backwards towards Alexis while keeping his eye on the teacher. The rest of the class went on like this - the two sneaking the same crumpled piece of paper back and forth, donning various insults and playful banter.

And that's how the pair ended up sprawled across the floor in Luke's bedroom, with various notes and textbooks surrounding them, a frustrated frown on Luke's face while tears ran down Alexis'.

"This is so pointless I'm never going to need math in my life anyway! Why the hell is it important whether or not I know how to verify trig functions," Alexis whined, falling onto her back.

"Lex, I know you're never gonna use it, but you can't graduate without precalc, just try to understand."

Alexis didn't respond, crossing her arms in a pout and Luke groaned, standing up and storming out of the room.
