~Atiyama~
I slouched in my chair in the back of the classroom, fixing the beanie on my head. I was sick of being here. I just wanted to take Akiriya to Helios and be done with all of this. I couldn't take another second being around her, and her smile and the way that her eyes twinkled when she- nope. I wasn't going to think of her that way. She was nothing to me but I still couldn't deny the way that I had reacted to her the first time that I saw her. The way that my panther reacted to her, if we could just get her to Helios, I could bury all of these stupid feelings permanently.
The bell rang and I was grateful for it. A twig or a girl in a skirt that looked to be too tight and long, stick straight, blonde hair strolled over to me. She ran her hand up my arm and smiled in a way that she must have thought was sexy. "Hey there new guy."
I internally groaned, "Is there something I can help you with?"
She blinked at my tone and seemed taken aback, like she couldn't believe that I wasn't interested. If she knew what was good for her she'd walk away but of course, the gods couldn't be kind enough to my soul to let her be apart of the sect of humanity that had even a little common sense. "Well," she purred, purred, what in the name of Hel is wrong with the women here? "I was wondering if you were busy this weekend?"
I rolled my eyes and pointed her with a look.
"Listen, I-"
"He's busy that weekend and every weekend after that." Akiriya slid into the seat next to me and plastered a fake smile on her face, "so move along."
The blonde twig of a girl glared at Akiriya and cocked a hip, "And who are you to him, puffball?" the way that she spoke to her made me livid.
"I'm his very possessive girlfriend," she placed her hand on my shoulder and I felt my eyes roll back but I quickly covered it with a scowl. "And you are?"
The girl blanched and looked to me. The look on my face must have made her feel like Akiriya was wrong because she smirked and laughed, "Oh sure, honey. I saw you just a few minutes ago with some of the other new guys." she tapped a finger on her lip and scoffed, "come to think of it I think I heard that you kissed the one with blue hair yesterday, what are you, dating all of them? The whole group?"
Akiriya leaned in and laughed wickedly at the girl, "If you know what's good for you, you'll stay away from them." She leaned back and I caught her scent, citrus and coconut. The other girl looked to me for help, but seeing that I wasn't going to be supplying any she stomped off.
I huffed under my breath, "You laid that on a bit thick don't you think?"
She shrugged, "Not really."
"Well do you think that it was reasonable to imply that you and I are together?"
She turned towards me, all of her radiance nearly blinding me.
"Well I didn't exactly imply it did I?" she smiled and looked ahead to the front of the classroom. I rolled my eyes and listened to the sound of the middle aged women droning on about who cares what. I couldn't stop myself from glancing at Akiriya, she was so magnetic. He was beautiful but, i knew she had to be dangerous, I was letting my suspicions cloud my judgment. I knew that she wasn't bad, at least deep, deep down i did.
I glanced at her again and this time I tapped her shoulder. She was clearly deep in thought because she jolted at the contact, like a scared puppy when you pet it.
"You know, Zelisa is pretty upset about you choosing your mates." I whispered. In all honesty, I was mad too, we all were. Some part of all of us was drawn to this girl for reasons unknown and she choosing her mates was a kick in the sack.
"Well, i didn't choose so I don't think you can really be upset now can you?"
I snorted.
"I'm serious," she huffed facing me, "I have no control over what's happening to me."
I rolled my eyes and scoffed i mean, she had to be joking right? Sure her abilities were wild but they were strong too, magic was like a drug and just feeling it pulsing from under her skin was enough to make my panther want to come out and smell it's intoxication aroma, but i kept him down.
The room started to shake and desks began to vibrate against the floor. I snapped my head towards the window and I saw it, the creature moving fast prepared to run in without hesitation. Akiriya's hand grasped mine and i knew that she saw what I saw.
The choice that I made today would set in stone all that was to come, i needed to keep Akiriya safe.
My skin grew hot and I began my shift from man to animal, as the beast tore into the building's side i pounced; nothing would hurt Akiriya.
Not on my watch.
