'Hey Di, what are you upto early in the morning?' Chirped Khushi Gupta, 24 year old, coming inside Shantivan, her daily ritual to greet the people here before she left for work. She was an interior designer in Delhi.

'Hi Khushi. I am making Rakhis for my brothers.' Anjali welcomed her sister like friend.

'Wow Di, they are awesome. Wish I too had a brother to tie a Rakhi to', pouted Khushi sadly.

'Arre Khushi! I was just thinking about you! You came late today. I have made your favourite breakfast. I was about to call you up.' Ratna Singh Raizada entered with her dazzling smile towards the duo seated in living room.

'Hello Aunty.' Khushi greeted standing up, still with a sullen face.

'What happened? Why do you seem upset?' Asked a concerned Ratna.

'Ma, Khushi wants a brother to tie a Rakhi', said Anjali smiling.

'But I dont have one!' Khushi again expressed her displeasure.

'Dont you have any cousins too?' This time it was Nandakishore Raizada who intervened their conversation.

Khushi looked at him and gave a heavy sigh which meant she did not have one.

'Phir toh yeh bahut badi problem hai', said Akash Singh Raizada, who was listening to them from the beginning. A man of few words, kind at heart and loves Khushi equally as he loves his Anjali Di. (Then it is a bigger problem)

'Why dont you tie me one?' Akash offered.

'No Jiju, I cant. You are going to marry my Jiji and you will be my Jijaji.' Khushi pouted.

'So what Khushi', Akash again asked not sure of why she denied.

'Nnno.. please dont get me wrong, but I need a brother only. You will be my Jiju. And I will be your Saali. Jiju-Saali ka rishtha aise hi rakhthe hain na,' Khushi insisted. (Lets have the relationship among us as brother-in-law and sister-in-law)

'Fine, as you wish', smiled Akash patting her head affectionately.

'Khushi, why not NK?' Asked Arvind Raizada, husband of Ratna. Arvind Raizada seemed tough to others, but had a heart of gold. Though a gem, he too had his own flaws. He always gave status of the people more importance. Khushi, though not equal to their status, managed to win his heart in a short span of time. Who wont? After all she is one of a kind! But he could not let that show to anyone. His ego problems! Hence Khushi always feared him.

'What? No way! She cant tie a Rakhi to my son!' exclaimed Manorama Raizada, wife of Mahendra Singh Raizada. She loved Khushi and was secretly pining for her to become her daughter-in-law. Akash was taken and NK-Khushi, being of same age, shared a great bond of friendship. She just wished that the friendship turned to love someday.
